Converting Rear Light Clusters

I have a 1998 GS300 and read the article on how to "Re-wire your brake light (6 light version) on http://lexusmodz.netfirms.com/ (excellent GS mods site).

I want to have braking/lights in the upper part of the light cluster as well as the usual lower part. When I checked my rear light clusters there was no bulb or fitting in the top part of the cluster. Has anyone else checked to see if they have a bulb fitted in the top part of their light clusters? It looks as though its possible to fit another bulb but maybe not in a baynet fitting.

To what I know the UK version has less bulbs compared to the US or JDM version. So you cannot do the above mod, unless you either cut into the rear cluster or buy new taillights.

I checked my light units and there is no hole in the plastic. To fit a bulb I would need to drill/cut the backing plate. Also there are no 'unconnected' wires
