Hi, new member from Glasgow here, bought my first Lexus 5 years ago, a gen 1 rx300 with an lpg conversion only paid £1200 for it as it needed some TLC, sorted it and ran it till a couple of months ago, unfortunately the previous owner used it for launching his boat so the sills and underbody were going to be too costly to sort out. Anyway I bit the bullet and paid £2000 for a non running 2008 rx400h in astral black, (water ingress in the electrics in front passenger footwell) my full time job is restoring classic cars so electrical problems don't phase me, no pun intended! Fitted a replacement under dash fusebox, £28 from eBay, all connectors cleaned with contact cleaner, 1 was so bad that I removed it and hard wired the connections, powered her up and everything is working as it should now, also had to replace all four wheel bearings on her, the rear nearside one was seized and actually spinning in the hub, not a nice noise I can tell you! I have never bought a car before that needed all four wheel bearings replaced. Anyway I think a 2008 rx400h, now motd and on the road for approx £2500 is a bit of a bargain, it has the later entertainment package in the back as well, and came with 4 virtually new Michelin latitude tyres on it. Can't see myself driving anything other than Lexus now.

Always a delight to read the adventures of a true "oily rag" rather than a "polisher" like me 😎
