Auto headlights on 2019 NX

Can anyone tell me if they also have to reach 40mph before the auto headlights activate full beam. Many a time I need full beam on minor roads where it is safe to travel at a slower speed. Can this 40 mph switch on be adjusted. Many thanks.

Nope, fixed at 60 km/h (38 mph) for European models.

It’s an awful restriction that stops me using my auto beam much of the time as I can’t safely get up to 38 mph on the narrow lanes near me.  I’m pleased that the new models are set at 19mph with a dealer option to drop it to 9mph.  They’ve also moved the daft position of the switch from hidden down by your knee to on the end of the stalk where it can be readily disabled if it decides to dazzle somebody as mine often does.

Yes, I have often thought that this system was designed by townies who don't go out on unlit roads. I wrote to Lexus about this years ago.

^^ My new RX has the switch hidden down to the lower right of the steering wheel too - hardly convenient!

However, I could have sworn that on my 2018 NX you could simply disable or enable the auto function by moving the stalk forwards or backwards? It always seemed to work for me as far as I can remember (and unless I’ve finally lost the plot!)

Same on the current NX. The switch is by your right knee.

From the pics I have seen of the new NX, it looks like this will be replaced with a button/switch at the end of the indicator stalk.

Totally agree. You're on a country road with full beam on, get to a sharp bend that forces you to slow down... and it switches to low beam at the most inconvenient time.

Having said this, it is a brilliant and efficient feature when driving along sweeping unlit A and B roads.

You can Ed but it dips the lights so to have auto beam enabled you have to press the impossible to find switch by the knee and have main beam selected 👍

tried it, don't use it. I react quicker on or off than the car does.
And sometimes I like leaving them on to dazzle people who use their foglights when they shouldn't but look "cool", so 1990's
