Maintenance Required Soon

Recommended Posts

I have done two services on my Is300h in the last 12 months, using Lexus parts, but done the servicing myself.

But last couple of days I have had a warning light come on the car at start up, saying "Maintenance required soon".

I am assuming (and hoping) this means that the car has an inbuilt service reminder based on mileage and needs to be re-set. Rather than the car is telling me it needs a load of money spending on it!

Can I reset this counter myself?

If your car has not been in a dealer for a service or been in a dealer where they are obliged to reset it post service, the process I believe may be similar to Toyota. Like below

I wouldn't however recommend that it's done to simply stop the maintenance warning appearing as it could be appearing for other reasons that trigger this.

  1. Turn on your engine.
  2. Flip your Odometer/Trip Display to ODO mode or TRIP A mode, depending on the model.
  3. Turn the ignition switch off.
  4. Hold the Trip Meter Reset button while turning the ignition switch back on.
  5. Wait for the maintenance light to blink, turn solid, and then turn off.

You may also be able to reset it in the Settings menu. In the DIY Maintenance section of the user manual it says:

Quote

After changing the engine oil (if equipped)
The engine oil maintenance data should be reset. Perform the following procedures:
While the hybrid system is operating, switch the multi-information display to the “Settings”
screen. (→P. 117)
Select “Maintenance System” on the “Settings” screen.
Select “Yes” on the “Maintenance System” screen.
A message will be displayed when the reset
procedure has been completed.
