Replace the front control arms and ball joints on Rx400h. Any brand suggestions?

I am about to replace the front control arms and ball joints on my 2005 RX400h. Any brand suggestions?

Hi David and welcome to the LOC.

OEM Lexus would be your best bet but at their premium prices although you may be lucky with the club’s resident parts dealer “Lexus Parts Direct”  if you don’t need them immediately try amayama.com who sell genuine parts from Japan or the UAE at around 50% of UK dealer prices. Even factoring in the shipping and VAT they generally come in with a good saving but can take a while to get here.

Aftermarket try rockauto.com but again shipping plus VAT will apply. The RX400h was never sold in the USA but the RX330 was the same suspension.

Moog appear to have a decent reputation and offer a 3 year warranty

Ones to avoid are most eBay sellers with their cheap and suspect offerings which may or not fit and remain serviceable.

Don’t even bother with aftermarket - there are multiple reports of rubber bushes falling apart in under 10k even for some reputable aftermarket brand names. In RX front wishbones are relatively difficult - read expensive - to replace because you have to remove the engine mounts, so there is a considerable risk of expensive second replacement if the aftermarket part does not perform.

If new Toyota parts are expensive I would recommend buying used ones in good condition.

Rockauto and from my personal experience with my Ls400 with UCAs .........  from Amayama ......  work out about 50% of the cost from Lexus UK .......  supplied and  all-up delivered, carriage, VAT, Customs Duty and Post Office Documentation fees too .....  take a few days to arrive BUT arrived stamped Toyota on the arms themselves so most certainly OEM and very original product ........... even stamped " left " and " right " too ( but couldn't see the difference tbh )

At that time about £250 each " all-up " as opposed to Lexus/Toyota UK £550 each

AND one of these replaced a BluePrint UCA that had been changed just 40k miles previous ....... my originals on the car lasted between about 170k and 210k miles
