which model in the is300 range is the highest spec

Posted

I found this confusing when I was researching my purchase. As far as I understand it, there isn't necessarily a highest spec per se, as some spec levels have things others don't. For instance Premier and Advance have some features that F-Sport doesn't, and vice versa. All I could tell is that SE was definitely the lowest spec. But then to make matters more complicated, even the base spec can have optional features that don't come standard with the highest levels. 😖

I nearly went with an IS300h Advance as it comes with adaptive cruise control and cooling seats as standard, but it kind of depends on what you want.

Actually, come to mind, the Takumi is the highest spec level, but they're so hard to find that they never popped up in my searches.

To make matters worse, some features become standard after a face lift.

This hits the nail on the head.

Interesting, looking back, how Lexus LED with the two-litre turbo engine rather than the hybrid. It was a flop, and ran for what — two model-years? It certainly made no inroads on the BMW 3-Series.

I suggest Lexus dealers win over BMW dealers every time. During our 4 years with my wife's 3 series the dealers were dire, when it was replaced with an IS there was no going back. When my LS430 had a gearbox recall they dropped a car, collected the LS and came back with chocolates and flowers. All BMW dealers did was not complete the requested work.

I'm looking forward to seeing if I get a prezzie when I take my IS in for the fuel pump recall. As it isn't as posh as an LS, I'm not expecting chocolates and flowers though. As I'm having to burn up what was an almost full tank of petrol in preparation there should be something.  I'd be happy with a four pack of cider and/or a Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin. I have simple tastes.

Perhaps they became...victim of their own success? 🤔

There's the logo on the bit of plastic in front of the gear lever:

Swapped pics.

Before you actually go and search for it, listen to the "Standard" audio. IMO it's still good.

I concur with Dublet here. I hoped for a Mark Levinson system when I originally was speccing up my IS (Had one in my old 220D and it sounded great) but I took a NONE ML system for a test drive and was suitably impressed. So I bought the whole car. 😄

has this model been a target for the cat theft scum or has it been left alone

Posted

Supposedly all hybrids are targetted more often, with the Prius (due to how many there are) and SUVs like the Lexus RX most targetted.

If it is a particular concern to you, you could have a device like a CatLoc fitted. They don't do a kit for the IS300h, but you can get a universal CatLoc and presumably a competent mechanic could fit one. A CatClamp is an alternative.

HOWEVER, a fly in the ointment. The IS300h has the cat in the engine bay. Thieves don't know this, and will cut out something that isn't a cat. Still leaving you with a damaged vehicle.
