Is this the same gearbox ?

That's a manual, not an automatic.

Sorry it was a quick glance, I saw 6 speed and assumed automatic as my LS430 is 6 speed auto.

I've looked at these bit scared to buy a high mileage box to be honest.

Could look at it differently, in that high-ish mileage means it's been used but never failed, so that means it's good.

I'd be curious to know which gearbox specialist you got a quote from.

Seeing as you're in Yorkshire, these peeps seem to have good reviews?

It was actually these peeps among 2 others I rang before saying f**k this.

Half tempted to just buy a different car, do you think anybody would bother buying a 2007 IS 250 SE with a broken gearbox? Or would I need to just scrap it.

Hmmmmm,  you bought it so I guess someone might!

Everything is fixable, but the art is knowing ‘What’ to fix when you are presented with symptoms that could emanate from a multitude of components!

Your model year seems to be fetching between £2.5-£4.0K on fleabay, if you spend 1K on a secondhand transmission including fitting you would have a decent car if there are no other potential problems surely?

The main problem selling as it is would be arranging collection as it is not drivable so limiting to someone with a trailer or transporter who are in general the traders who will pay you scrap value.

If the rest of the car is solid I would find a decent garage and ask them to investigate - NOT LEXUS...why people take cars of this age to Lexus is astounding

A reputable skilled garage will either tell you it can be fixed and this is the cost or they will say its a write off

Was thinking about auctioning it but I doubt there'd be a bidding war over a 2007 Lexus 😂.

Please let us know how much WBAC offer for it, apparently the “guaranteed price” is rarely given after the inspection.

Offered 2 thousand with knowledge of the broken gearbox and the 19 days MOT left. Gave me 1400 due to bodywork being a grade 4 out of 8. Sorry for late reply I've only just got around to selling it due to work.
