Thanks for all the help so far - the SC is looking a lot better already.

I took out the cabin filter today and it was disgusting.

1. Does this normally get replaced on a regular service or just at certain intervals? Is this something they replace if you get an air condition service  (not sure if that is the correct term)

2. Any recommendations which manufacturer to replace it with? We are living somewhere with high levels of pollution so would prefer one that kept as much out as possible.

The cabin filter unfortunately tends to get forgotten by owners and garages alike,until they begin to smell when the air conditioning/climate control is used. On some newer cars the glove box removing to access it so they end up being left unchanged.To be honest any make or brand would do,you could stick with toyotas,but would have it changed every couple years,as they are a breeding ground for bacteria.

It should be changed every 2 years/20k miles. Worth getting one with carbon in it to reduce odours and well as filter out particles of dirt.

If you replace it yourself consider dropping some of your favourite essential oils before inserting it.

My wife has done this and now the car smells like a Jo Malone counter at John Lewis. 🤣🤣

You know, I never thought of that. My LS always smells a bit fusty. I think a previous owner liked cigars. I'm going to try that.

Air and pollen filters are always fun.

This was the one in my last Saab.
