RX450h IV engine whine on quick acceleration. Is this normal?

Hi,  Just after a bit of advice.  Looking to buy a RX450h IV 2016 from a main dealer, I test drove last week and commented on a whining noise on quick acceleration.  They said they would look at it.  I've just heard back and they say it's normal (transmission motor).  I've had 4 X RX's in my time (350/400h/2013 450h) these had different engines, so just wanted to ask if the noise is normal.  I did video the noise, but not sure if I can upload here?

Any advice would be welcomed.

I would imagine that it's just the eCVT doing what it does. Everybody's engine revs for fun on hard acceleration with an eCVT.

I too suffered from a whining noise on quick acceleration----it was solved by getting the Mother-in-Law to use the bus.

Hi Phil,

So your RX does the high pitched whine that you can hear over the the engine acceleration sound?  Have you every queried it, or been given an explanation?  If you fancy putting a video on to show me, it would be very much appreciated 😊

Nikki - Yes - mine does exactly the same noise as yours - I've never queried it and no point in me videoing it as it is exactly the same as yours

Mine also does the same. Its the motor whine. nothing to worry about. All of my RX's have done it

Just wanted to thank Herbie, (Lydiamight 😂), Neo GFS & Ryaans for putting my mind at rest.  I'm now the proud owner of a new to me RX450H F Sport (with whiney fast acceleration! 🤭). Many thanks.
