Let’s be honest the major supermarkets now sell almost everything, not just food stuffs but insurance, bank loans, foreign currency ( OK maybe not at the moment!) but what if they made and sold cars.

We obviously have the mainstream supermarkets but then have the likes of Waitrose up to Fortnum and Masons.

So how would a supermarket “own brand” car be, I’ll start it off with a “Tesco’s Basics car” nothing fancy but does the job. 😀

It will be interesting to see the next motoring revolution take hold, which could bring in new players like Tesla. Servicing will be dramatically different and should be much cheaper.

did anyone see the tv ( yesterday ? )  piece that included Lunax ......  amazing, taking 60 year old RRs and replacing the engines with bespoke Electric one's .....  the car's in bits and on end a sight to behold with total, and I mean TOTAL refurbishment of every single morsel of the car

OK still a silly 200 mile range and maybe at £500k BUT an amazing sight too see an effectively brand new 60 years young RR

now where's this S3 Bentley I'm hankering after

I'm going for the new Poundland car, it's called the Pence 100,  cheap and nasty, but better than walking home....just.

I'm going for the one from Waitrose because it attracts a better clientele who know in advance it will be reassuringly expensive 🤩

One of my favourite quotes is Sainsbury's exist to keep the riff raff out of Waitrose.

If Ev's are that reliable and simple to fix via straightforward component swap why wouldn't Tesco do it let alone Tesla? For example Costco do an ace job on tyres and stuff why not?

Good question and indeed why not? If cars dont need maintenance and are like fridges or washingmachines why do you need a dealer? a garage at all?
