Hi All,

as per title, I only got my RC300h last year, however Lexus Edinburgh gave me an LC500h as a courtesy car (it was Glasgow's demonstrator they got a loan of) as a thank you for being patient getting a minor repair done to my seat.

Now they contacted me to say they have an LC500H 2017 in White with red interior,  I am waiting for the full details, it has done over 33,800 miles and had one owner from what the checks are coming back with. IIRC it has the 21" wheels, Hi-Fi upgrade and Heads Up display

However it appears not to have been taxed since November 2020 last year. With Covid that is partially understandable if it has been at a dealership since then.

They want £54,500 for the car which I thought considering the mileage was maybe a bit on the steep side, I am trying to think with my head not my heart, as I loved the car that was loaned to me.

Unfortunately I can't provide a link as they took it off the website since I placed a deposit to hold the car however they did send a video and I took some screenshots, didn't want to post the video as there was personal details on the link.

seems a touch overpriced given this V8 for £6k less

Thank you Colin, this was my concern too, even compared to 500h's on their own site.

I went back to the sales person and asked for the full spec sheet and also highlighting my concern regarding the price on the forecourt.

I have followed the used LC market on almost a daily basis from before I bought my car about 18 months ago. It is a specialist and very rare vehicle so tends to buck the normal trends as it sells in fits and starts.

At the present time both V8 and Hybrid seem to be selling reasonably well, possibly due to the fact many available have reached a price which offers unbelievable value for what you will get.

The car you are looking at has a higher than average LC mileage but thats not a problem as against main stream cars its low for its age.

Being a main dealer car I would expect it to be mint with at least a years warranty but it is a little on the high side and would think around £50k was fair if its tip top. There are cars on sale out of the dealer network which reflects the nationwide lack of stock generally so dealers dont trade around so much and they wont have a proper Lexus warranty.

Look forward to hearing what you decide.

Barry, I have bought several cars from Eastern Western. Two MB's and five BMW's, and my LC 500 Convertible...

Tell them, that Kevin Williams from Cornwall, says you need to sharpen your pencil...!

Good luck...!

I agree with A J...

Thanks guys @Kevin Williams I have bought 4 from them myself, the last 2 being brand new. Who did you deal with at the dealers?

@AJ500 I'm not the best when it comes to haggling, I only got my RC last year and at a great price, even with them settling the finance at trade price I'm up 2K which I'm happy with.

I need to see the car in the flesh and I would expect the paintwork etc should be in top condition, my IS200t was like brand new.

I agree also with Kevin and AJ, I'd want to see this one 'in the metal', so to speak, and if it's in good condition, I'd say £50k tops.

If you are happy with the deal they agree, thats all that matters. The LC is a very fine car and if you get it I know you will be delighted.

Good luck,

Hi Barry,  I bought Kevin’s old LC500 from Edinburgh last month which they had up for sale for 57k which was a 67 2018 Sport + with 24k miles.  As they had only just got the car they weren’t very flexible on price but I did manage to get a few grand discount.  The good thing about buying from Lexus is they will give you a year’s Lexus warranty which is worth £1500.  You should be able to offer low 50s for the car which I suspect they will accept.

Regards,

Eddie

Barry, I dealt with Sean Stringer. Sean also drove my convertible down, and drove the Coupe back up. Sean has left, and is pursuing another career...

Eddie's Topic... Bought my dream car, is interesting...!

Good luck...!

Thanks @EddieCD that is good to know this car is a year older but had only one owner, I will go back with an offer as you and the others have said, at the end of the day it doesn't hurt to ask.

@Kevin Williams thanks, I have a feeling he may have been Eastern Western Glasgow? I deal with the same sales person three time Sebastian in the Edinburgh branch, he too left (after quite a few years) to pursue a different career.

I appreciate everyone's feedback as, for most people myself included, this is a significant sum of money!

even this very low mileage example is a bit overpriced according to carwow

@talaipwros sorry can't get in to that link as it requires a login. Yeah when I did the HPI report the top level was around a grand less.

Thank you so much everyone, I will post updates of how I get on, you have all given me much to consider and I will definitely see if there is wiggle room on the asking price.

They did say they would transfer my plates and the dash cameras I had fitted to the RC so not sure how much negotiation room that will leave, but I am sure doing those job don't amount to a few grand!

Hopefully I will get a date soon when I can go see the car in the flesh and drive it, if it isn't as @AJ500 said in mint condition for its year, or doesn't meet my expectations,  I may have to reconsider.

Two LC500h at Lexus Gatwick substantially cheaper. Have they priced it as a V8 rather than a hybrid ?

No disrespect to them but they were marketing an RCF as a hybrid last week.

One of the Gatwick cars is a base model with the highest mileage I have yet seen on any LC. No problem with that but its just unusual to see these types of cars with what would be an average mileage for a more mainstream model.Gatwick also have 3 LC for sale so may be a bit more competitive so as to shift them.

I think Sean came from their BMW dealership, across the road in Edinburgh... I have found that Eastern Western have been good to deal with...

Being a family owned business, their sales people's technique, is more pleasant and different from the larger companies... Good luck!

Hi All,

So the car is a Sports + edition with the Levison upgrade and Heads up display pack so pretty mightly specc'd. It would have been north of 90K new

They could only offer me under a grand off but also potentially the 40,000 service thrown in too.

Hopefully I can get out to see the car at some point in the next week or so, I was close to just withdrawing my interest, and I said as much, but the car is like a sirens call to me lol, however I still love the RC,, it is going to be a tough decision when it comes I think.

Barry,

They must be pretty sure they can sell the car in good time to only offer a miserable discount off a top price.Either that or it stands them in at a high value for some reason.

However,if you go and drive it I suspect you will not be at all disappointed.
The used car market is crazy at the moment with very high prices being paid for stock so I would expect the dealer to give you a very tempting price for the RC.

Once the deal is done you will quickly forget about cost etc as its such a compelling ownership.Especially with the new warranty system from Lexus.

Thanks @AJ500 yeah when I drove the demo LC I was like man this is amazing lol. Once you use a heads up display you wonder why they are not standard as they make for an, imo, far safer driving experience as your eyes are on the road.

The price is OK for the RC, trade standard, but I could potentially get a couple of grand more if I sell it privately.

Yes he mentioned the new 10 year mechanical warranty now available, and the service plan which I also took out when I bought the RC, is only marginally dearer for the LC, which is also compelling.

They know how well I look after my cars, my IS200t was absolutely mint, you could just stick it in the showroom after a valet, something the sales guy mentioned, so he knows what I am expecting of the LC and he said I wouldn't be disappointed.

I have a lot to think about, doesn't help I am also doing work to my house too so that's a drain on finances too, part of me is like go for it, the other is more reserved, the angel and the devil lol.

Hi All,

Just to update, I went and viewed the car in person and it is lovely, didn't have time for a drive due to another appointment, body work and interior great condition for age with the expected wear and tear from usage.

When I seen the car in the flesh I just wasn't feeling the emotional tug with it as I did with my RC when I first seen it, so I have decided to not go ahead as I know there will be that little niggle that I am not 100% happy.

They were going to offer me more for my car as trade in as well as the 40K service and also ceramic coating the car so it was extremely tempting.

I cannot fault the sales manager John and the advisor Ross at Lexus Edinburgh as they went above and beyond to make the purchase as appealing as they could.

One of the main reasons was the colour, I love white cars, my IS200t was the same metallic white, but for me not so much on the LC, I think I would prefer the  Sonic Titanium as it is with my RC.

Thank you to everyone for their input and suggestions, I don't think this is the last LC I will look at for sure!

Thats a huge shame and surprise.

It looks just like mine, other than the Hybrid decals on the sills.I think the white really suits the car and pops in the sunlight.

A J.

@AJ500 I am ashamed of myself too lol

When I went to see the RC they had two and I was disappointed the Sonic White one was sold and they only had the Sonic Titanium left, but when I seen it, I fell for it as I loved the colour.

My car is next to the LC in the pic.

Barry, I had an RC (pre-facelift) in Sonic Titanium and it IS my favourite colour. I would have preferred, as I've said before, an LC in titanium as well, but I just couldn't find an Approved Used one at the time. I am very happy with my Graphite Black LC, but if I change it for another LC in 3-4 years, I'm really going to try for a Titanium one.
