The Mercedes design was interesting. As you applied the foot pedal it made a clicking noise as if a ratchet was operating. In fact, the noise was made by a plastic clicker to make it sound like a ratchet.

Yup, the clicker was an aide in setting up the parking brake pedal travel

Only just noticed this comment, can't believe RC's still have the foot parking brake pedal, my 96 LS has that! 😆 Do all the RC's have it out of interest? Bit antiquated isnt it?

It is kind of funny that even the latest RCFs that are being built today are still having brand new foot-operated parking brakes installed it. If it 'aint broke...

My 2015 RCF also shares the cruise control lever stork/control with a Corolla that I hired back in 2012...lol

Perhaps models with radar have an upgraded control?

Cruise control stalk on a 250 with ACC is no different to standard CC.🙄

Very much the Japanese and Toyota way, continuous small improvements over time, which I admire, but is unfortunately why sometimes they fall short in the market as it evolves so quickly.

I do miss the 'nutty' Jap car era, where gentlemens agreements were made and immediately broken haha. The GR brand gives me hope!

I guess because my GS came with the electronic park brake, I had assumed RC would too, oops!

The RC F has an IS rear end, electronics and interior which has foot operated brake. It would need a major series upgrade to change that.

The GS F is based on the series IV GS which has always had an electronic parking brake.

I was reading a while back the drawbacks with Electronic Parking Brakes .........  tend to become immovable when your car has run out of electric stuff to make it work ........

Yes, it solves the problem of owners not using the parking brake and it seizes up, only to create another issue if you have a flat Battery.

There is a manual release (and a tool in the boot) but it is probably easily to connect an external 12v source to the vehicle (just to turn on the ignition) and use the electronic release button.
