Gearbox Control

Is there a gauge somwhere to check the level of the gearbox oil ? Where to fill it ?

The oil level is checked via the fill hole. The level should be at the bottom of the hole - basically you fill it until oil starts to run out.

Yes, you need it level so either on a lift or 4 ramps.

I'm going to change the oil in my IS soon, luckily when my dad built his garage he put a pit in it so i'll do it there ;)

Filling the new oil is a real pig because the hole is in a very awkward place. I had to put a funnel on a length of tubing, route it down to the filler hole and fill the oil from under the bonnet. It was a two person operation

Anyone got rough pic (places) on where the inlet and outlet are, as I wouldn't mind doing this soon ;)
