Can anyone suggest a place to replace the upper and lower control arms?

presumably you're not wanting to pay the Main Dealer prices ?

and if not then where are you in Greater London, that might help with someone's suggestion !

Good luck

At their prices!?!

I will travel anywhere in England... There used to be a Japanese specialist on the outskirts of London but I just can't remember any details now...  So any suggestions would be welcome.

I highly highly recommend Russell Birch at Toyotec of Red Hill - www.toyotec.co.uk. When I needed control arms on my RX I had an astronomical quote from a local garage who were going by the procedure in the book, Russell was around £500 cheaper on the labour because they had a technique to avoid needing to raise the subframe (I think it was something along those lines). The local place quoted 6 hours, he did it in 3 (1.5 per side).

Thank you m4rkw, it sounds like the very place I need.

He's an honest guy too, on a few occasions he could have easily done additional work for me but turned it down because in his opinion it wasn't necessary. He also once diagnosed an engine rattle for free for me too, I think that was when he did the control arms actually. Oh and they have loan cars 🙂

Genuine UCAs are around £400.00 each with LBJs at £100.00.

Amayama prices are around 75% of this including shipping and VAT.

Rockauto have UCAs from £15.00 and LBJs from £12.00 plus Shipping plus VAT if you want aftermarket offerings.

While I appreciate there may be some aftermarket products that are good quality, I would certainly not trust a £15 control arm when the OEM part is £400! Perhaps consider what could happen if they break while driving. I would always use OEM for stuff like this.

When I contacted Lexus Parts Direct I was quoted £1,114 for a pair of front UCA's, so I went for a pair from Rockauto which cost £93 including parts, taxes and shipping. I also bought lower control arms with new bushings and lower ball joints.  These weren't the cheapest they had, I was going by reviews.  I understand the concerns over aftermarket but you can tell by the quality of the casting these are good parts, plus CNC machining.  I also know about the suing culture in the US so that gives me more confidence when buying from them as opposed to an unknown seller on eBay.  I also know that Moog (the parts manufacturer) has a good reputation.  It's a really easy job to fit all of these parts as well, they just need torquing correctly.
