Yes they have just reinforced the statement made by the OP. Announce a concept to be released in 4 years time - the competition are releasing vehicles now.

They are however committing to EVs:

By 2025, Lexus plans to introduce 20 new or improved models, including more than 10 electrified models such as BEVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles(PHEVs), HEVs, in line with the needs of each country and region around the world and based on the concept of offering the right products in the right place at the right time.

Battery development will change rapidly . I had an interesting discussion at my dealer. The size will reduce considerably thus making vehicle lighter. In fact they will become that small you wouldn't imagine it as of today.  The charging time will be reduced considerably. Linas made a good point how far will a minute charge get you. Thus reducing worry time to enable journey and not waiting for a charger. I still think Hydrogen fuel cell is the way. Colin pointed out on another thread Toyota have this tech. Interesting thread.

Available now. - 577 bhp.

Seems South Korea is moving faster than Japan?

And good looking too.

The power they are putting in these seems to me a bit more than needed for most. Now speed limits are restricting use of it and in the future we may be allowed to drive no faster than we can on bicycles. More comfortable yes, but not like on Autobahn in Germany 20 years ago. As long as you did not make accidents - you did not drive too fast.
