Paul, I am able to afford it too. I never buy extended warranties and am well aware of sellers responsibilities.

The one exception I make is my Lexus. It is an exceptional warranty for an exceptional vehicle.

I think that’s the crux of it. £795 for 2 years warranty, two free MOTs, and breakdown assistance for both partners is probably well worth it.

Which is great if you do drive in Europe. Less so if you don’t.

Sure, but even if you only travel in the UK it is personal cover for two people, home start and onward travel which Lexus would charge £125 per annum if you purchased it separately and would cost more directly from the AA (before no claims discount).

You do have to consider the total cost though as Lexus dealer servicing is expensive which you need to use to maintain the warranty. They seem to reduce the cost of the warranty but add it on to the servicing costs compared to other manufacturers.

Breakdown cover also covers you if you drive another vehicle, ie if you have a second car.

Yes indeed. It is personal cover, not vehicle cover.

I have decided to with it on my 2015 with 82k on the clock, problem we are miles from the nearest Lexus dealership, but can use the Toyota dealer in Northallerton, the dealership in Preston said they would collect it and deliver it back, wonder if the service cost at a Toyota dealership is cheaper than Lexus, makes MOT expensive though ( if it passed that is ) with the added fuel cost even if they collect Mmmm !

I recently asked the question to a Lexus salesman about servicing my 2020 NX (which I get in 3 weeks time) at a Toyota Dealership and was told by the Lexus dealership, yes you can have the service done at the Toyota dealership in York, however to guarantee the hybrid Battery for the duration of it's warranty (15 years I believe) the Battery checks need to be done at a Lexus service dept.  Not sure about the cost comparison, so cannot help with that.
