New owner says hello!

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone, long time lurker but finally joined the club!

Couldnt have chosen nicer weather to click and collect the car,I had a 48 hour loan of one last year and that was a mistake because ever since then i knew at some point I would own one,a lovely car to look at and even nicer to drive.
Like a lot of new owners there is a lot to find out which will be fun but I do have a couple of newbie questions how do I enable the voice on the Satnav,i went into the voice menu and turned the volume up but nothing, what am I doing wrong?,also the only item in the boot is a towing eye, should there be anything else?

The only problem now is not being able to drive it!

Ian........I'm looking at page 58 of navigation manual and the voice setting screen says :-

Button Box "A" select to adjust the volume of voice guidance.

Button Box "B" to select the voice recognition prompts on/off.

Have you selected on for box "B"

I have attached navigation pdf manual

Ian try this link :-

Afraid I'm no expert on Sat navs, I would have thought my suggestion would have resolved your problem.

Perhaps you will need to ask at your Lexus dealership.

Thanks for the welcome,I’ve waited a long time to own my UX but like all of us I’m itching to drive it instead of looking at it through the kitchen window!

As for my sat nav volume problem the kind man at Lexus will show me next week when I have my dash cams fitted.

Yes it’s a F-sport Takumi in Graphite black with red leather interior,it’s 6 months old and just 1750 on the clock.

When is your car due to dock and what spec have you gone for?

I've gone for the Standard Spec but with Premium Plus pack in Mercury Grey with the Cobalt interior.

I think it's another 10 - 14 days till it arrives in Uk and then however long it takes after that

Sounds really nice,I’ve not seen the cobalt interior apart from pics but really looks a bit special.

I bet these two or so weeks will really drag for you,but it will be worth it!

Ive had my car less than a week but slowly working out all the bits and bobs.

Can anyone help,at the moment when I try to open the tailgate with the key it will only work if I unlock the car first,is there a way to programme the key/car so I don’t need to unlock the car first but just tailgate?

Ian.......The key fob will not open the tailgate if the car is locked or the engine running. It's to ensure the tailgate will not open should the driver accidentally trigger the fob's tailgate button whilst driving.

Eddy..... Yes that makes sense,I’ve been playing around with the foot operation for the tailgate and after a slow start have got it working every time, one kick in the middle and step back!(sounds like a country and western dance move!)

Took me a while to get the knack, you have to take a step back after swiping across with your foot. There must be a sensor somewhere, this prevents the tailgate from hitting you under the chin.

Two year service coming up in 2 weeks, not many miles in the las 12 months.

Only the third drive in my ux today,I had been fiddling with the settings and lo and behold when I gave the sat Nav  instructions for the route to take me to the Lexus garage(dashcam fitting) the voice guidance started straight away! Not too sure what I did but it worked!

Ian……How did you figure out the sat nav had lost its voice? Did you not set a destination in the sat nav then go for a test drive, that’s the only way to determine its functionality. Glad you got it sorted 👍 .

My dealership fitted a Nextbase 380GW to my car.

Eddy.....yes that’s exactly what we did,we picked the car up last week and although we knew the route home we set the sat nav for the journey and it showed the route but the voice did not work. After you kindly sent the link for the sat nav guidance I went into settings and increased volume and turned on prompts(not sure if they were switched off or not),I then set a route and started it but I did not actually leave my drive,as I thought the prompt would start as soon as I entered it and moved the wheels a yard or so,probably my fault for not actually leaving the drive!

Yes we’ve had the same Nextbase dashcam 380gwx fitted,it looks a really neat job, almost factory fitted!

Whilst in the dealers today I took out a discounted service plan as I plan on keeping the Ux a good few years.

Ian.....I got my UX in Sept 2020, 18 mths old with just under 10k miles on the clock.

Standard Spec but with Premium Plus Pack in Graphite Black, ivory coloured interior & 18” run flat tyres. I’ve been a big fan of Lexus cars since 2008 my 1st one being an IS200.

BTW I also took out a 3 yr service contract £33.39 pcm (1 x full & 2 x intermediate)

Eddy.....sounds very nice I love the graphite black and ivory,in fact probably one of the nicest combinations, when we were looking I definitely wanted an ivory or tan interior but ended up with red! When looking for cars the one i ended up with was such a good price and was only 6 moths old and only 1750 miles that I decided I could forgo a lighter interior!

You sound similar to myself in that I’ve owned a couple of Lexus cars my last which was a sc430 in blue with cream  interior i had that car for nearly 8 years.

I think the service plan makes a lot of sense mine is also a 3 year plan which like yours is 2 lntermediates and 1 main, for £34.

Ive obviously had very little time behind the wheel but it really feel very solid and so far puts a smile on my face.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just ordered a Stock UX Premium Sport in metallic black, hopefully picking up by the weekend,   looking forward to our new experience after owning my once new Audi A3 cabriolet for nearly 13 years ! now being demoted to the B Car.

Any advise welcome, interested in aftermarket wireless mobile charging options

Have you seen the Premium Sport in the flesh? It includes some aesthetic additions - which quite honestly, put me off. Spec is good, but all seems a bit dark inside.

Looking at base UX with Premium pack instead now.

MY UX has just left Sagunto an hour ago. Due in Bristol on Wed morning 🙂

Any further news Mark? My UX took just over a month to get to my dealer after arriving in port. How long has it been so far?
