Hi

My GS450h 2008 (pre-facelift) front shock is leaking and looking for replacement isn't very easy. Found set of new ones for £700 ish, used ones £450 (don't really want used ones). Also research and found that people put GS300 shock absorbers onto GS450h. Looking at price it is massive difference. And suspension sport mode is something I never used in last 3 years anyway. The only question now- how to find correct GS300 shocks which will fit my GS450h.

Did anyone try this and can guide me what to get?

Found this, crazy cheap, not sure about that brand and if it fits

Looked for some KYB shocks on eBay but again there are so many of them, no idea if they all exact same fitment etc..

Any help would be appreciated 🙂

Hi Paulius,

Before buying GS450h I have researched alternatives for leaking shocks. Because it is normal thing to happen. Luckly for me, my shocks are still in good shape.

The alternative that I found is Refurbished OEM Lexus shocks, 12 months Warranty! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-GS450H-FRONT-RIGHT-LEFT-SIDE-ACTIVE-SHOCK-ABSORBERS/254788055994

I cannot give an actual feedback, but I would say it would be a good buy. I would buy for sure.

Although you are right, GS300 shocks fits GS450h (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VltUKbDJEnQ)

I'm not against GS300 shocks, but its up to you mate

Any news on how the shocks got installed? Simple bolt on ?

I have just had a full set of GS300 KYB shocks fitted by Lex-Tech and apparently they are a straight swap. Just either tie up the motors or remove them.

Apparently the only thing to be wary of is that the lower bolts can seize and have to be cut off and replaced with new ones which are about £15 from Lexus.

Only Lexus could get away with selling a high tensile carbon steel nut and bolt for £15.00, I am presently rebuilding a 1981 Suzuki GSX250 and a 100 piece assorted metric stainless steel nut and bolts set cost less than half that amount.

I appreciate the bolts are safety critical but alternatives with the same or better grades are available for a lot less especially when you consider their position, no one will ever see that Lexus logo on them 😀
