New to the Group, just thought i would introduce myself, i have just purchased a 2008 rx400h & i have got to say i am very impressed, it has full Lexus Service History up to 72000 miles and its only done 2500 since , i have rang the Lexus Garage to Confirm all this & hopfully they will call me to verfy this, there is nothing wrong its just the way i am, im a clockmaker by trade so a bit anal with detail its a family thing we have been at clockmaking since mid 19th century so attention to detail is everything, i intend to keep up with the servicing etc, 1 question though spoke to a freind who owns a Garage and he said to change the cambelt ? but Lexus recomend 100,000 with 10,000 intermediate services, my feelings are to stick with what lexus say, the second thing is you can download the service manual from eBay, i have been told its not that good, its not that im going to do any repairs myself but my need to know mind compels me to try to know as much as poss, im not one of those pain in the bum customers either i dont go and tell people what to do its just my need to know basis mind, now thats a pain in the bum ! Has Anybody Got Any thought on the Manul download, anyway look forward to browsing the forum & wish you all well.

                                                                    kind regards John

Welcome to the club, I hope Lexus ownership is as enjoyable for you as for many of us on here. I too like to have a manual of sorts and bought a disc from eBay for my ls400 and Ls430 however have not bothered so far with my current cars as my local Lexus dealer at Hedge End has kindly shared screen shots of parts etc when needed.

What a wonderful profession. And in the family since the 19th century.

The Rx400h is a very good and dependable car. A Hybrid ground breaker.

Like any car the ICE needs the normal maintenance. The hybrid should be good for 200K + miles.

The water pump and belt is needed between 90-110K.

Radiator can go at a similar time. A plastic split opens near the top hose.

There are some water intrusion issues with a certain percentage of RXs. And that’s not an ideal mix with a high voltage Battery

It is among the fastest of the RXs 0 - 60. You’ll love the acceleration. And the ride quality is sensational. It’s sure footed. Great motor.

Thanks, for the replys ,I'll probably get the wateump etc done when I get the timing belt and have the things you suggest looked at, it's the most comfortable car I have ever driven & I have had a few Mercs etc etc, the silent hybrid takes a little getting used to but what a car, I think the Japanese know how to build things right,

 Regards john

The timing belt should be done at 100k miles or 10 years, which ever comes soonest.

I'll send you a private message tomorrow about the manual, I'm off to bed now 😊

Get the Annual Hybrid Battery check done. It`s £59 from Lexus and warrants the Battery for 12 months/10,000 miles,John.

It can be checked annually until the vehicle is 15 years old.

I’ve just been out in thick snow and black ice on some incline too, and that’s on supervalu crap tyres. Great motor. Really intelligent power distribution. Lovely handling. Enjoy your Radiant Crossover.

Hi John

If your car was serviced at Lexus within the last 12 months, then the Hybrid Battery check would automatically have been done within that service, all routine services include the Hybrid check.

Have you purchased Gold Membership with LexusOwnersClub (£59 for 2 years membership)?

Gold membership entitles you to discounts on Lexus servicing and service plans. If you are looking at future services at Coventry for instance, you should get about 15 or 20% discount off your services. Well worth it!!

BTW, My RX400h was one of the first batch of retail 400's into the UK in 2005 and I recently sold it to a very good friend having done 186,000 miles. Friend is still a friend and car still going strong!!

The last service was at 71843, 30/08/2019 it is now at 74390 so I was going to get an intermediate in about 3000 miles and a Battery check when the pandemic situation is a bit more under control ? I'm not sure if there is a Lexus in Liverpool, but there are a few people who do the servicing.

Thanks Ken Regards John

I have just set up an account with them, I spoke to them the other day, it's £69 pound for the hybrid Chech & they clean the car while it's with them, so I'm going to book it soon and get some idea of a price of services,

Thanks 👍👍

They're charging you £10 for cleaning the car then John - it's £59 on the lexus.co.uk website:

I'll just pay it, it costs £8 for one of the other places to clean it and they won't have stones in the sponge or snap the wipers off, how much is an intermediate service obviously provided nothing is wrong,

If you go Lexus Liverpool site they only charge £39 for it, or free with a service. OP contact Kerry in the service dept. and ask for a discount quote for a service plan. I achieved a touch over the essential service plan but for the Lexus full services. You can also pay monthly to 🙂
