Hello all!

Just joined, planning on getting a CT200h next year and wanted to know if there are any common faults or problems with this model as well as if there is anything in particular I should look out for when purchasing?

This will not be my first Lexus but it will be my first hybrid. I previously had an IS300 US version and an Altezza RS200 JDM version.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard Alex. I do not have one,but others will advise you shortly.

What I can advise however is;

1. Do a search on the Forum or just read many of the entries in the CT Section

2. Do buy from a Lexus Dealer

3.Make sure the vehicle has a full Lexus Service History.

Make sure you get an initial 12 months warranty

4.Consider taking out a Lexus Extended Warranty after that

Do contribute freely and do let us all know how you are getting on.

From my research, the ct200h doesnt have any common issues. There are problems reported on the prius forums with head issues; but this is due to vehicles not using the correct oil and service schedules and again this typically rears its head on higher mileage vehicles. (<100k) There is a joint on the steering system where the bolts need to be replaced with high-tensile bolts; but again this is a five minute job and very simple to do.

the only common issue i have heard about on this forum is the egr valve getting clogged up,

our members have successfully cleaned them so not a major issue.

as john has already said

"Do buy from a Lexus Dealer & make sure the vehicle has a full Lexus Service History."

all Lexus approved car will come with 1 yr warranty and AA breakdown

you can buy a 2yr extended the warranty identical to the dealer warranty

for £495 still including AA breakdown for you and any another person at the same address

and it possibly comes with mot insurance aswell

Have not had ours a long time, but the worst with it is that it so far is better than the previously owned. Even though some of these were more than twice the price.

Wife tell me to turn volume down on the audio, but the sound of it is so great that sometimes I do not hear her.

Daughter love the car.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Sorry for the late reply. With covid and the strains it's put on the work place, I have barely had any time for myself.

I haven't purchased a new car yet but will be doing so this year and it will more than likely be a CT. The plan is to purchase towards the end of Autumn or if my current car breaks before then. I use my motorcycle mostly in the summer months so make sense to wait until the Autumn.

The plan was to use Lexus Milton Keynes for the purchase and will now definitely go for an extended warranty.

To what age and mileage can you take a warranty out with Lexus and are there any exclusions to be aware of?

That question is one that I also would like an answer to.

You can take out a warranty until the vehicle is 10 years old.

Exclusions are:

Drive belt adjustment
Brake and clutch adjustments due to wear
Glass replacements due to breakages or impact
Corrosion to the exhaust
Lights, bulbs and headlight adjustments
Window and door lock adjustments
Paintwork and bodywork
Battery (HV Battery on Hybrids is covered)
Interior trim
Road wheels

The above warranty is operated by Toyota GB - you would need to check with Toyota/Lexus in your country for their T&Cs.

Thank you. 10 years!

With all the exclusions: What is then warranted?  😇

Yes, assuming that the vehicle has not covered more than 140,000 miles ! 😜

Yes, although if your vehicle is out of warranty (either initial manufacture's warranty (which at 4 years old it would be) or extended) then the dealer may want to charge you for an inspection to be confidence there is no pre-existing fault. Most dealers will waive the fee if you are getting a service done as that would be regarded as an inspection anyway.
