light stalk and wiper stalk

was driving down very dark road other day i dont normaly go out much at night

i noticed that the indicator stalk and  wiper stalk were not illuminated is this the case as i am sure that it used to be

i did change my Battery a couple of months ago I amsure my 450h mk3 was illuminated does any one know if this is the case

Mine aren't, unless I have turned on the auto wipers or the rear fog lamp. Then small indicators light up but they don't illuminate as to show the different functions.
