Hi guys,

So I took my 1999 ls400 for a pre mot test, it turns out the drivers side spring is broken, god knows how as it still drives quiet and smooth  and the front sidelight bulbs need replacing, odd about the sidelight bulbs as there was no warning on dash. Anyway, anyone know how to get to these bulbs without taking the headlight off, or anyone in the Midlands or near, willing to replace them for me and where should I get the drivers side front coilspring from?

Thanks in advance

Update, I found someone who supply the coilspring, kyb £39.99, but if someone can please tell me how to replace the sidelight bulbs, known as parking bulbs, 501 I think they are.

Thanks

simply take it to Halfords to replace the dead bulbs ..  they might charge a£10 ? or so but if you watch you'll be able to change them when they go again in 2031

Do I trust Halfords to change them without breaking anything? No, that's why I call them halfrauds

Thanks guys, I thought I'd give it a go this morning, and I did it, it wasn't that difficult, took me about 20 or 30 mins, took the bolts off, tilted the headlight forward and it gave me access to the bulb

Sorry Qamar I only just read your PM.

I have emailed the diagrams for future reference, getting the indicator unit off is nerve racking but rarely breaks anything apart from the yellow fixing in the wing.

Spring replacement isn’t too bad provided nothing is seized nut and bolt wise, I replaced my rear springs with KYB and all was good although they do seem a tad higher than the originals.

Hi steve

Thanks for the info. Regarding the spring, I have ordered a kyb spring, but I'm not sure how it broke, and the car still drives nice and smooth, no knocking noises either, just really nice and quiet. Ive got to do something about the surface rust underneath, mot guy said its not bad as in very bad, but it's there, but I'm not sure what to use to treat the rust so it doesn't get any worse
