Kevin,

My view with all specialist forums is that most owners do not participate or even know of their existence.

The LC forum has been much quieter than ,say,BMW M car forums and Porsche in the 12 months I have had my car.So you may not get much response.

Regardless, lets hope there are some people out there.

Interesting article today on Pistonheads.Slightly silly comparison of the LC convertible versus Porsche 992 cab.Lexus comes out well.

Porsche is even £23k more expensive.

Large Pistonheads forum response with many preferring the Lexus.
I concur.

Thanks A J. I thought your post in this Topic might read that you have also ordered a Convertible...!

I am surprised that no-one else has posted that they have a Convertible on order...!

I don't think you need to see the Convertible at a UK Lexus dealer, the reviews are enough, to want to have one. Even if you don't have the roof down very often...!

I will read the Pistonheads article...

Having now driven my LC 500 a few times. I think its even better than a Bentley Convertible W12 GT, that I previously had... Kevin

Thats great to hear Kevin.I have had a number of convertibles but must say I prefer the coupe. The only ones I miss are my MX5s which I usually have for pure fun..best value fun car but in a different game to the Lexus.

As I have said many times, most owners do not participate in forums so I am sure there are a number on order but we may never get to hear about them.

Looking forward to yours though.

I forgot to ask, do you use the Voice Commands in your LC, and if so, how do you get on with them...? Kevin

Kevin,

I havent used it. Must admit that whilst I drive the car very regularly,I rarely utilise many of its features. The trackpad ,which gets poor comments,is absolutely fine once you get used to it.

I agree, there are probably several orders for the Convertible. Many potential buyers are probably waiting to see the car at a Lexus dealer...

I remember that I had the 1st BMW i8 in Cornwall, in January 2015, because I ordered one after watching several reviews on youtube... Before BMW dealers had one in their showrooms...

I have ordered a Convertible because there are several reviews on youtube, that are all very good...

Lexus Scotland tell me that mine is still their only order...

I think potential buyers who are waiting to see, and touch, the Convertible, will have a very long wait if they order one... KW

I have just spoken to Lexus Edinburgh, and they have confirmed my Convertible should be in the UK in March. The sales guy I am dealing with, also said he thought there would be few Lexus dealers, if any, that will have a Convertible for test driving etc.

Because dealers probably wouldn't be able to take one into stock, because Convertibles coming to the UK, will probably be sold before they arrive in the UK...!

I am surprised that no-one else has posted that they have ordered one...

I think I will enjoy mine, in all weathers...! KW

Hi Kevin,

Your colour scheme is not showing on my ipad.

I believe that you are right in that dealers are only getting LC models for customer orders.I suppose its a big chunk of revenue to have sitting through the winter in the showroom.I think that is short sighted with the excellent reviews the car receives and I know people who always want to see a car before ordering.

Roll on March for yours.

I have asked Hedge End about a test drive and seeing one "in the metal" and they are getting back to me next week. They say they will be getting a "demonstrator". We will see.

Lexus UK have registered a number of convertibles for press reviews etc. I think all dealers can access these for demo.

Interesting post Malcolm. Do you know if Hedge End have taken any orders for a Convertible...?

I think there are probably several orders at various UK dealers. They have probably been ordered by people that have several cars...!?

I see that you had a DB9, have you had any/many convertibles...? Attached is the spec of the one I have ordered...

I have had several convertibles, and I think the LC 500 Convertible's youtube reviews, tell me that it will be a great car, irrespective of the time of year, and what the weather is...!

The sales staff at Hedge end are very limited at the moment as most are on furlough so I don't know much as my usual source is one of them. Most are back next week.

The only convertible I have owned was a Mercedes SL500 (in the inevitable silver). I found that I didn't really have the top down so much as it was too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer (I have little hair left so it meant wearing a hat which I don't like). I reckon that 8degC is my minimum limit for open top motoring. So I am not sure that I really want a soft top, however, I thought I might see what they can come up with as I am, at least, a credible customer.

I know colours are a very personal choice but I quite like the Sonic White/Dark Rose combination.

Firstly, sorry to hear that your area will be in tier 2 after Lockdown... Bloody virus... Hopefully the vaccine sorts it, for all of us, as soon as possible...

I bought my LS400 and SC430 from Lexus Plymouth in 2000. I think the dealership has changed owners probably 4 to 5 times since then... They are now owned by Snows, but now only do servicing and parts... I emailed Exeter on 1st November, regarding a convertible, and got back the following...

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your enquiry. I am Gregory from Lexus Exeter, and I'd be delighted to help you.

You can pre-order now with a £5000 deposit. The car should be here toward the end of spring (April - May)

Thank you again for your enquiry and I look forward to speaking to you soon.

Yours sincerely,
Gregory Waddington

Lexus Edinburgh said March to me, and I trust them. So Maybe Hedge End have some orders...?

I never asked if they were getting a Convertible for customers to test drive, and also didn't ask if they had taken any orders.

I also have little hair left!, but I have had a couple of Mercs, and 3 BMW's that had air scarf's fitted... The BMW M4 Convertible was a good car...

Occasionally, but not often, I used to drive them with the roof down and the electric heated seat and air scarf on. Did your SL500 have heated air scarfs...?

The main reason I have ordered a Convertible is that several youtube reviews, in particular the review by savagegeese, say that the suspension has been modified, and is a better ride than the coupe. I find my coupe to be typical Lexus, very comfortable...! But if Lexus can improve the ride, the Convertible is on my list of cars to have...!

I am not to bothered how often the roof is down. My wife likes the AC on, and will try and stop me putting the roof down in convertibles that I have owned... Women and their hair...!

I look forward to hearing if Hedge End can get a convertible and you get to drive it... Be good to read your post on the Forum...

Hello Steve, you are a very lucky guy. I have had several convertibles, but having seen several you tube reviews, I bet your very pleased with it. Your post says Dec, so I presume, even with Lockdown, you have driven it a few times...?

There is a video that I posted in the Topic, apple Car Play, where a guy drives one in Canada at -6C, with the roof down. The concierge and neck heaters must work very well...!

I ordered mine on 6th November, and my Lexus Link, last Sunday, said that Build was in progress. I rang my Lexus dealer and he thought it should arrive late March early April...

When did you order yours Steve...? Enjoy it...!

     Hi

About August last year, as soon as they officially launched, I had a lc 500 coupe but always wanted a convertible. I have had 3 jag xk convertibles in the past but the Ftype replacement was too small for me. The Lc 500 is a very very good replacement and the new Lc 500 convertible roof works like a dream.

I haven’t been able to enjoy the car yet, but hopefully by Spring the lockdown may be relaxed and my wife and I can do some roof down motoring.

I was the first person at Vantage Preston, to order the LC 500 coupe and the first person to order the convertible.

Hello Steve, I hope you and your family and friends, are all safe and well. I see you became a member of the Forum in March and your first post was yesterday…! So, I presume you have read several of the Topics on the Forum.

I had an LS 400, 18 years ago. In those days there were several Motorways and By Passes, that had some concrete sections. I regularly used to drive between Exeter and Bristol on the M5, which had two concrete sections. The LS 400 was a great car, you didn’t know if you were on the concrete, or the asphalt surface, the ride was so good… I stupidly changed it for a BMW 750i, and I didn’t have another Lexus until November this year. I bought an LC 500 Sport +, and its great… I only started reading about the Convertible in early November.

I have attached my order for a Convertible.

I have mentioned in the Topic, LC500 Soft Top, that savagegeese did several youtube reviews of cars. He has done a 44 minute review of the Coupe, and a 14 minute review of the Convertible... @ 8 minutes, he comments in the convertible video, about how much nicer the ride is in the Convertible... He says that anyone with a severe case of haemorrhoids, the convertible will be your dream car...!

Do you find the Convertible to be a different/better ride than your coupe…?

In the Topic, LC500 Soft Top, Chris (wendle), also mentions that he has test driven the Convertible…

I did like my R8’s and my F-Type SVR and my M4 Convertible, but I think the LC 500 Convertible will be a great car…

Cheers Kevin

PS Have you seen the video where a convertible is driven in -6C, with the hood down…?

Hopefully, yours will be delivered well before then.
