Wind noise creeping through front windows

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Have a bit of wind noise coming through from the drivers and passenger front window area. Is usually above 60mph and dependant on wind direction. Not rely what I expected in a Lexus but other than that its been a brilliant car.

Might try and blag it under warranty as I bought extended 3 yr cover with the car. However in case I have to do it myself, any idea of which seal will need replacing?

First is running around the body. Second is running around the doorframe. Third is running around the area where the window lines up

Any ideas?

They aren't cheap from the dealer....

Guess it may need all three doing?

cheers

I guess it may be more a case of compromising and maybe getting them fitted minus labour if the car is still under warranty. Lexus are usually eager to please their customers. However....aim high and you may land halfway up.

I once has a windscreen that wasn't properly bonded in the bottom corner of my GS430 - dealer changed the door seal even though I told them it was coming from the screen. You could press the glass whilst moving and hear an increase in wind noise. All covered under warranty, it was right at the end of the manufacturer's warranty but would have been covered by extended warranty as there wasn't any physical damage to the seal/windscreen.

If you want to try and determine where the problem is I would seal the door/body gaps with electrical insulation tape, climb through from the passenger door and take it for a drive to see if it fixes the issue (or get someone else to tape it up after you get in).

If it is one of the seals then try some Gummi Pflege on them - that will soften them up and maybe allow it to seal again and will also allow you to open the door in frozen weather.
