What happens when E10 fuel is standard in the UK?

I have an LS460 and apparently it isn't compatible with E10 fuel. So....what happens? What would I need to do, is it likely to be costly, or will be my car effectively be scrap?

I think while there's still demand there will still be supply, you should be fine for a good while yet.

You could use the premium grades, such as V-Power and Momentum which will remain E5

E10 is available in Germany for a few yers. It doesn't mean E5 is gone, it is just another option. Here is a typical choice you got:

 

 

Super 95 E10 is normally few cents cheaper than standard Super 95 (E5) - choice is yours.

Any issues with the higher ethanol fuel having a lower specific energy than "pure oil"? Higher fuel consumption possibly?

Not sure what Lexus were thinking of with the 06/07 LS460, IS250 and GS300, as the earlier 00-06 LS430s are all E10 compatible.

Thanks for that, seems very expensive, may as well just get the super unleaded.

I posted on this last month, and have included the advice below which may help.

The following advice applies to Lexus vehicles-

E10 petrol is cleared for use in all Lexus European petrol models made from January 1998, excluding:

•IS250 2.5 litre V6 with engine 4GR-FSE made between August 2005 and September 2007

•GS300 3.0 litre V6 with engine 3GR-FSE made between January 2005 and September 2007

•LS460 4.6 litre V8 with engine 1UR-FSE made between August 2006 and September 2007.

It is, but when the government mandate that all petrol must be E10, including Super, then at least you can keep running the car, if you still have it.
Most pre-unleaded cars are having to run additives but they do tend to be low mileage.

I'm curious if there is any country in the world where E10 is the only available option.
