Petrol 95 octane or 97.

I’m just curious as to what the fixation is with fuel consumption. If fuel consumption was so important I probably wouldn’t drive a Lexus hybrid. I’d likely pick something entirely based on its economy. Possibly even an EV or PHEV.

I use 95 and every now and then give it a treat with 98 ( if it has been behaving) but have not noticed any difference

What if important is not fuel consumption, but honesty.

In business that is a nonexisting word as all car companies are not telling the truth about how much fuel or pollution their cars make.

Manufacturers test to government standards - if people have an issue with those tests not being related to the real world then complaints should be made towards government. Obviously some manufacturers (VW) go to an extreme to make their figures better.

 

Monitoring fuel consumption is a good way to early identify issues with your vehicle.
