Unfortunately I need to have a new windscreen fitted to my car following a stray stone causing a crack that Autoglass could not fix.

I am booked in to have a replacement screen fitted by Autoglass in Darlington on Friday.

They tell me that they can do all of the alignment for the camera etc, but does anybody have experience of Autoglass doing this in the past?

If so what experience did they have, and were there any issues following the replacement?

Unfortunately my insurer will only cover the first £50 if I use an unauthorised repairer (eg Lexus Teesside), but cover the whole amount if going to Autoglass.

Get them to put in writing what they have previously told you, before they do the work.

No personal experience but looking at their website they proudly proclaim -

"We are the ADAS calibration specialists
We calibrate to the manufacturer's required standard."

Interestingly that calibration is not included in their guarantee -

"Our calibration of any advanced driver assistance systems will be true and correct at the time of being performed and will not be the subject of our guarantee."

Presumably once "true and correct" it (the calibration) shouldn't change? I wonder how one checks this "true and correct" calibration before accepting the car back? Can one test drive it to check things such as Lane departure warning is operating as expected? Or can one accept the car but with the proviso one can return if any of the systems malfunction? What time-scale?

As John suggests above get some form of assurance, in writing, before booking the job (which I presume must be done in one of their depots, as opposed to one one's driveway? Another question to ask)

Before I had my NX300 I owned a VW Tiguan R-Line, I had the misfortune of windscreen breakage on two occasions on that car, through my insurers I had to take it to Autoglass

for replacements, that car had pretty much all the windscreen camera functions that we have with the NX, So I took the car to an Autoglass Centre where they had the ADAS accredited

equipment and they knew how to use it.. the car came out perfect on both occasions, the big ask though, at that time I asked them to fit VW glass but that was my request, and they did..

but I had to pay a little more than the windscreen excess as agreed with the (LV) insurers..   no negativity, they did a good job for me on both of them times..

You may need to find out if it’s a genuine Lexus windscreen. When I had the windscreen changed on my Mercedes there was a reason it had to be genuine Mercedes windscreen and I can’t recall why. It may have been that Mercedes would not calibrate the camera if it was on a non-Mercedes windscreen. My screen was exchanged by a different company not auto glass

Used for my RCF. Lexus glass and perfect calibration. Genuine Lexus side trims too. Although initially Lexus sent them the wrong ones for an rc milk float. Autoglass came to my work a couple weeks later with new ones even tho the old ones were fine to be honest.

I had to use auto glass a few months back. I requested a dealer glass but they said that I had to pay £100 inclusive of the excess. Due to being under warranty it was a no brainier.

I had to get a windscreen replaced in a brand new CT loan car a couple of years ago(less than 200 miles on it) The guy who fitted it(recommended by Lexus Cheltenham) told me that if the camera's are carefully removed and reinstalled there should be no issues with Calibration. Certainly he made a wonderful job of the fitting and everything worked perfectly.

I used them, also for a Tiguan. No issues, very professional - although as with all such things there will be good and not such good technicians...

Thanks for all the replies.  I spoke with my local Lexus dealership today and he has reassured me that they have not had any issues with past replacements carried out by autoglass, so i feel a lot more comfortable with this and all of your comments.

Booked in for tomorrow so I will give it a go.

Well I am very pleased to say that Autoglass did a first class job with my replacement windscreen.

They have fitted a genuine Lexus screen and the camera alignment etc was all carried out and tested without any issues.

All my worries were happily, unfounded.
