RCF - 2 year service

Just doing some digging. It seems service prices are the same across most dealers. £625 online and also when ringing. I guess this is oil, filter, brake fluid and a pollen filter.

Any ideas on how to get this lower ? I'm aware Gold membership can get a discount,is there a way of confirming what dealers are part of this scheme ?

I’m the worst to respond, only ever see the dealers for recalls, always used a VERY reputable Lexus specialist near me.....about £495 for its 60k service from memory, shows how much the dealers are stealing from u 😉...... but definitely quite since Rattys gone

Seems very expensive considering you could probably get the parts for less than £200.

I managed to negotiate a 15% discount on a 3 year service plan with Lexus Stoke. The service plan includes MOTs and net of discount compares very favourable to independent specialists.

Lexus Stockport point blank refused my request for discount, whereas Stoke listed the discount as 'new customer' and everything went through smoothly.

Hi John,

the garage I use is called “Westfield motors” they’re based in Rawreth, Essex near Rayleigh, they are known to Lexus Woodford as both owners are ex Lexus/Toyota engineers, my car was given a full clean bill of health when it went in for air bag recall by Woodford Lexus, I can’t fault these guys at all and they’re well known in the Japanese sector of performance cars.

Cheers. I had a service plan on the IS and managed to negotiate a discount but because this service is imminent they won't include it. No problems with specialists but I tend not to keep my cars that long and at just over two years old the main dealer stamp might be handy if I chopped it in early doors. I'm not actually in it yet, still doing 'due diligence' and weighing up future costs. I'm used to the Luxury tax, factored in the extended warranty when required, now service costs . I won't even broach the subject of discs and pads just yet as the blood pressure is getting a bit raised :sweatdrop:

My brakes are pretty low, will be purchasing myself and fitted by a local garage I trust before it's MOT.

I'm only using Lexus for servicing and MOT, no chance I'm paying their hourly rate!

So your saying at least a £400 mark up is fair? that service would take myself or any competent home mechanic all of two/three hours the only reason i use Lexus is to keep the book stamped up if i decide to sell.

I know i could buy those parts and get my local indy and pay them £40 per hour so why should Lexus charge so much that's the point i'm making.

The Lexus mechanics are oil filter technicians!....paid a wage irrelevant of working or not.....probably out source technical work to your Indy and all u end up paying for is the stamp 😉.....most state cars are Indy history, makes u wonder why the British mentality is it has to have the right stamp 🤔

Yes I am saying it's 'fair'. Although not sure it is as much as you suggest. It's an offer of business that you can choose to take or not. Understanding that you are paying for all the extra staff a dealership has over an indy, the expensive shop frontage and expensive large plots of land with high rate-able values, then VAT etc, business insurance, public liability, pandemics :nugget: . So £100+ of it is TAX! How much of the £600 is pure profit after business running costs? I know if I build an engine for someone, the govt receives nearly as much in tax as I make in profit. Then they tax my profit. I'd be surprised if Lexus make much more than 10% net profit. It's a volume business making % on millions and a bonus structure from Toyota for sales. Whereas an independent is a small volume low costs, so better margins, business. IMHO.

I suppose we could agree that "Labour" is a very poor term to use, it seems to indicate the labour for working on the car, whereas it really means, the labour of running the whole business premises.

I've found brembo discs at £85 each. Front pads EBC redstuff at £120 the rears textar pads at £100.

I've currently got redstuff on the front, stopping power isn't quite up to OEM pads, but far less dust and much quieter. Textar are a trusted brand and make OEM pads for lots of different manufacturers.

I personally wouldn’t want a Lexus stamp, I’m always dubious and the first thing I do is put it into my Indy and let them go through the lot (blank cheque)......had a fair few issues that weren’t done over two of my four Lexus cars owned, I’d happily let u work on my Lexus 👍🏻

i had an incident were one of there employees backed my car into something and left a small mark, they didnt inform me either i found out after i found an incident report sheet showing the place were it was damaged ill post a pic up of the sheet up tomorrow i didn't bother with it as i mopped it out didnt really want anyone else doing my bodywork other than myself.
