High Milage 3-4 year old Lexus.

Looking at buying 3-4 year old RX Premier Series 4.

I apologise if this has been discussed before, however I cannot remember seeing this recently.

There are occasional cars outside and inside lexus dealerships with milages 70-90k which are considerably cheaper than 5-20k milage cars. (maybe £1-1.5k per 10k miles.)

If car has a lexus extended warranty it can be covered until about 12 years and any milage ( as long as first warranty taken out when less than 140k.

When selling car at 12 years, if doing 10k a year, difference of value of 90k vs 160k car with flsh may be far less than the initial prices?

Questions are:

Are there any items (apart from brakes) likely to fail in the milage 90-160k which would not be covered by the warranty? (My GS450h has done 70k and the front brakes are 1/3 worn.)

Is the drive of 20k/80k/160k cars much different?

In a car to do high milage is there an upholstery colour to avoid? I like cream colour, is than an issue?

I have a GS450H with cream leather, and 150,000 miles on the clock, and 14 years old. The leather is still pristine with no cracking or fading on any surfaces. I imagine that condition would depend on how well previous owners have treated the interior of the car rather than millage, and even age.

It is possible that black leather might suffer more than light colors from cracking as it gets hotter in the sun, and may be prone to drying out.

I have bought such car, 70k on 66 plate. 1 year Lexus warranty and extra 2 years Lexus warranty bought already too. 2 years was the maximum I could buy at the moment. 

Seats are pristine (black).

Body has wear, small scratches, blemishes etc if you are picky.

I have just bought a 2013 is300h with 98000 on the clock from a second hand garage outside the Lexus network. 

It is too early to tell if there will be issues I suppose but I do work for a local authority licensing team and a lot of the drivers drive Lexus and I have seen mileages around 300000 and still going without issues. 

My personal opinion is if you are buying a quality car and it has been well maintained then they should be fine

Miles don't kill a car anywhere near as much as years do. I would much prefer a newer high-mileage car than an older low-mileage car. Cruising on the motorway is ideal operating conditions for any car, it will be in good shape.
