When into town today and when I arrived at my destination I had an error message appear telling me that the key Battery was low.

Back at home I checked the Battery with a multimeter and got a reading of 3.32.  i took a new Battery out of its wrapper and tested that and got a reading of 3.02.

I have the multimeter set on 20v.  On the basis that the Battery is a 3v CR2032, both of these readings appear OK to me.  Strange though that the one giving an error has a higher reading than the new one out of the packaging.

Thoughts anyone?

Ideally the voltage needs to be measured under a load to get a true understanding of its usefulness. 3.02v does seem low for a 'new' Battery though.

I have had "new" button cells that were well past their best straight out of the packet. They do have a shelf life and I guess some sellers have old stock.

Through it away and try another.

Certain multimeters will have button you press to simulate load, I'm pretty sure if you tried with old Battery with this type of meter, voltage reading would fall drastically, however new battey would show very little voltage drop. Try new Battery, I sure you will be ok. All the best.
