Anyone got views on 6 month extension for MOT?  Car test is due in 4 weeks, and local garage informed me that car is good and will pass.

Would like to take advantage of the extended time period, but can anybody see any pitfalls?

None.

Unless you get a service and MOT done at the same time currently to save on trips to the garage.

guess most people have an annual service and MOT at the same time and I sure as wouldn't delay the service if it's fairly crucial .........  and therefore get a fresh MOT too

I treat my MOTs as annual safety inspections. They help keep me and mine safe, so as soon as my local MOT tester opened up, I took my bike in to get tested.
Yes, you can currently let your MOT run for the extra 6 months, but from a safety point of view, I wouldn't.
Besides, if your local MOT tester doesn't get enough business soon, you may be travelling further to get your car tested.
