Anyone help me here, on my 2006 LS430, Mark levinson multi change player, the sound on my CD player drops out, will play for a while then silence then comes back. Happens on all CDs and not at the same point on the CD. Any advice ?

Does it happen with the radio as well?

No, the radio is fine. So is the cassette ... Ive tried a CD cleaner, didnt work. The only thing I'm thinking may have thrown it is I put in a CD awhile back with a label on it thus making the CD slightly thicker ... dont know. Read soemthing about Ship mode for the CD player but dont think thats relevant. Thanks Phil

yeah no change to the display, its something that has happened a few times in the past but has rapidly got worse

It's a fairly complex system and I'm wondering if your amp is beginning to expire. The ML system on the LS can be troublesome and often is, usually speakers, but the amp isn't the best these cars have been fitted with.  A few members have had trouble with theirs so hopefully one will come along soon to advise you on the next move or how to test the amp.

cheers, thanks for your help so far. I was wondering about the movement of the laser getting sticky, stuck. I think its on an arm and this can happen .. its otherwise fine

There is a YouTube video somewhere showing how to dismantle the CD player so I guess it's possible that it could just need lubrication.  Taking the unit out is fairly easy, I've done it a couple of times.
