Lovely, if you like white cars..... in terms of condition, even if it's 3 years younger and done the proportional lower mileage, nothing can compare to the history and loving care of Bob's car..... you know at the beginning of the search all you amazing people gave me so many tips of what to look for and how to research but when Bob's car came up everyone said just go for it.... and that's not just a measure of the car, but the man himself.... you can't put a price on that sort of trust!  Being honourable in this day and age is not something that we hear a lot about, but it certainly can be applied to Bob

Lucy you are buying a “car”, which translates into metal and glass and rubber and plastic. You might not even get Bob’s car, what then ?
One thing I have learned with cars and houses is that there will always be something else .... and sometimes a better buy 🤗

Thank you all so much for all the sound advice, encouragement and help.....

Yesterday I picked up Bob's car - yes I was the lucky one - and drove it home....

She is amazing and I'm ecstatic with joy, she is a real Bobby Dazzler (aka Bob's Car)

Hi everyone! My first post here, not a Lexus owner yet. I hope no-one minds me jumping on this thread, but I'm currently trying to get my hands on an SC430. It would be my first car at a ripe age of nearly 40, and it seems perfect for occasional usage and long roadtrips around UK and Europe.

There aren't a lot of them on offer, but I'm looking at this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201909132188246. Will check it out next week, comes with 6 month warranty, will be freshly MOT-d, and according to MOT it hasn't seen a lot of miles since 2017. I'm afraid it has been standing without too much care in the past three years, but I'm happy to invest to restore it. My biggest problem is the hidious wheel, but will try get my hands on some originals.

Does any of the more experienced members have a bad vibe from this car? Any advice on where to take it for a general checkup around London? Or Lexus dealer will do?

Many thanks,
Miklos

Hi Miklos!

I did exactly the same thing and attached my initial inquiry onto someone else's thread.... but 1) it's better to start your own (particularly as this thread is practically obsolete having found my beautiful SC430) and 2) get yourself onto another site - Lexusworld as between the two forums you will get a mountain of knowledge and help.

There are a lot of members here that are on both sites, but the other site specialises in SC430s.  It may take some time to get registered on the other site so apply today.

As for looking at the ad, I'm no help at all as I know nothing about cars - which is why I came here in the first place!!!!!

Good luck and good hunting,

Lucy

Best colour combination but before purchasing the car in Rake I would ask the dealer if all of the previous MOT advisories have been attended to correctly. I suspect the car hasn't been well maintained for a number of years. It also has an outstanding recall - probably for the passenger air bag that Lexus will do free of charge.

The exhaust will probably need to be replaced as it is rusty and the wheels need to be checked as there is mention of a satisfactory weld repair on one of them. If the wheels in the picture are okay and replaced the welded wheel then they might look quite good refurbed in silver with centre caps fitted. I very much doubt it's worth £6k. If servicing has been neglected as much as it appears from the previous MOT reports then budget another £3k to restore things to order. £9k is firmly in face-lift  2006+ territory.

Hi!  Have had a lot of very helpful advice from you all, but still haven't found what I'm looking for.....

Basically would like a SC430, not silver or black and not a black or red leather interior, with a mileage not much more than 80k - am I asking for the moon?

Your thoughts and help once more greatly appreciated!

I may be selling mine if you are still interested?

(not on the market yet and still debating)

I’ve loved my SC430 For over 10 years

it’s blue with cream leather and light wood interior.

and I’ve just spent over £700 on a service to ensure it’s tip top.

Hi Michelle!

Many thanks for the offer - the car sounds great and if you do decide to sell I'm sure it will be snapped up!!!!!

I was lucky enough though to buy one in June and am loving it.

Regards,

Lucy
