Looks very nice 👍 Is it really 15+ years old? Amazing alloys if it is OEM finish.

A second hand car is only worth what someone will pay for it and as you now own this car then I guess you were happy ( ish) to pay what you did so don't beat yourself up and enjoy your new wheels!

Excellent result on the key front as well, losing the only key just  doesn't bear thinking about !

As for the wheel alignment then if you stress that you want the steering wheel to be  'Centred' after the alignment has been done then they should't fob you off with any excuses or such.

Looking at your photos reminds me of our European road trip two years ago in my 2005 GS300.  It performed magnificently during 2.5k miles in ten days with amazing fuel economy.  Yours looks like a new car, and really light and airy with the upholstery!

At the end of the day, it comes down to the pleasure you enjoy from your purchase. You will no doubt keep this car for a long time, so what you paid is immaterial in the grand scheme. I have had 2 GS 300’s and enjoyed them both immensely, as I am certain you will. I think your Lexus looks awesome....enjoy.....like the rest of us !! Cheers, Roger

Exactly this. 

There's always someone on a forum that will tell you what you should pay, usually quite a way from what you see on Autotrader, C&C etc. Enjoy your motor, it looks a beauty!

At the end of the day you have a £35,000+ plus car when new for the money you paid so a 5th of the original price. For that you have a very low mileage garage queen example with service history and should anything go wrong a statutory law dealer warranty.

With no timing belt to worry about I think you have bought a winner.

Just noticed when reading back through the posts the webpage photo I posted showed the new key fob price  highlighted in yellow. At the bottom it gives an option for New Zealand models. That’s either a coincidence given your wife was about to travel back from there or a good omen.....😀

Hi Steve. Garage queen, lol, not heard that term, appropriate though. Sadly she's in the real world now but that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be mistreated. I picked up on the New Zealand reference too and I'd like to think as you suggest; it was a good omen. Thanks again for the heads-up on the key.

To Paul, Phil, Roger and Richard: Thanks for the great comments guys, they represent just how I feel about the car and despite the high price I still feel privileged to be the new owner. To me she's worth every penny, especially considering her original list price of £36,275, and given her current condition/mileage/history. Barring catastrophe she's definitely a keeper for many years to come. The upholstery is actually darker than the camera portrays, but still unblemished. As John said, a class act.

Hi John, dealer was LCC Car Sales, Baildon, Shipley. He's been ok and claims he's been in touch with the previous owner's family asking after the key but so far no joy. He sounded genuine enough but the issue has now become academic. I haven't told him about the new spare but If the 2nd official key turns up then all well and good.

BTW, how does 28.6 mpg urban sound to everyone?

My GS is a 450h Stevie and I think that your 28.6 urban is where it should be. My urban figure (manually calculated, brim to brim) hovers 28-30.

One caution, if that is the on-board computer figure then it needs to be reduced to about 26.5, otherwise it is fine.

Cheers, John. I keep an extensive Excel workbook with multiple sheets for my other passion, a Kawasaki ZZ-R1100. History, maintenance record, valve clearances, parts inventory and also, a fuel/mpg record. I've already created a new one for the GS, but it won't have its second entry until I fill her up again. I need to get out more, lol.
