I want to put a new Battery in but am concerned that the computer may throw a fit and give me all sorts of problems. Am I being over anxious or are there problems?

funnily enough i replaced the Battery in my gs300 2005 today and was fine apart from retuning the radio and resetting the windows

Forgot to mention that the new Battery was perhaps 1-2mm taller than old one (which seems to have been an under sized Battery anyway) so the strap across the top had to be bent slightly so it would fit across . bit of afiddle but sorted ok. i suppose it also depends where the is250's Battery is

If you are thinking of changing the Battery in your 250 then have you read this thread?

some suppliers might offer you the 'wrong' Battery (terminal posistions reversed) and you will have a world of pain if you accidently connect up with crossed polarity!

And note the Battery should have a plastic 'jacket' around it that holds the temperature sensor for monitoring the charge rate/temp of the Battery, so physical Battery size is very important.

Just had another look and it seems to have a metal jacket?

No it’s plastic and the temp sensor is a bit awkward to deal with!

that arrangement looks very similar to the GS. the sleeve was definitely plastic and the cross brace was folded steel. as you drop the Battery in the rear most bolt for the retainer bar is only hooked in a slot witha plastic clip stopping it falling off. i hit mine with the Battery on the way in and the bolt fell into the Battery tray. so therefore struggled to position and get the nut on! only just thought about it now but perhaps a cable tie could be used to stop it falling in
