Putting the search string "Lexus code P0A1B" (without the quotes) into Google brings up a few possibilities, none of which sound cheap.

From the fault code description it sounds likely you have an inverter fault according to my list of codes, and confirmed by your code reader. A subscription to Lexus workshop manuals on line would be a good starting point.

Thanks john i will look into that if i have to go down that root cant the inverters be tested or reconditioned

There's a few secondhand units on eBay from about £400 upwards, but you really need to make sure that a swap will cure it first, so as John says, the workshop manual is a good place to start.

They can be they are complex things. If a power transistor fails then it is likely that all the other ones have been stressed so they should all be changed, and the cpu system within the inverter could also be damaged.

The main issue is identifying why it failed. The most common reason an inverter fails is because it overheated, so you need to make sure the hybrid coolant pump and cooling system is fully working, otherwise you could blow any replacement/repaired inverter you install.

Cheers colin sounds like its a bit much for me to tackle myself, might try a toyota guy a friend knows and see if he can fix it

Hi,

From the repair manual, POA1B 163,164, 192, 193, 195, 198, 511, 512, 786, 794, all refer to errors relevant to the inverter converter assembly.

The recommended repair is to replace the complete assembly.

You have to wait at least 10 minutes after you remove the service plug to allow the capacitors within the assembly to discharge completely before you begin any work.

Like other learned members already mentioned, you must find the cause of the problem and cure it before you replace the inverter assembly.

The some parts within the assembly are available from Toyota. I know for sure that the capacitors are available.

Also initialy igct no2 fuse blew i replaced that and it has blown again if amybody has an idea on that thank

Supply to igct No.2 fuse comes from the auxiliary contact of the Ignition relay via a blue wire which terminates on terminal 9 of junction connector A9.

It comes out from terminal 11 with a white wire which goes to igct No. 2 fuse. It exits the fuse with a blue wire to terminal 8b of junction connector 10A.

It leaves the connector from terminals 3A and 3B, blue wires, connected together within the connector, [ one is used for RHD and the other is for LHD ] and they terminate to the inverter at terminals 30A ,30B and 31A  31B respectively. [ same provision for RHD and LHD ]

I hope the foregoing is of some help.

Just an update on this, had a guy out today he specialises in hybrids, after about 40 mins he couldnt get it started, he said it more than likely the inverter

Posted

So i found an inverter but mine is a g9200-30030 and the one he has is g9200-30050 he said it will work, anybody on here know if it will

Thanks Alan

from a quick search, i'd say no - 030 is mk3 gs450h, 050 is mk4 gs450h

The G9200-30030 was fitted to GS450h models between 02/2006 and 08/2007 which is a bit confusing given your car is a 2008 model year but would have been built earlier.

According to the data I have, the correct one for your car should be G9200-30051 (09/2007-11/2011 models)

The part number G9200-30050 comes up as a water pump for a Toyota Crown Hybrid.

Thanks ur right it is s 51 would u know are they interchangeable parts between the 2 models

You might be interested to know that the inverter failed recently on my 2011 Mk 1 Auris hybrid. Toyota replaced with an inverter designated for a Mk2 Auris (with a different model number) under my extended warranty. It seems likely that Toyota updated the inverter design to address failures of the Mk1 design. It could be that the same situation applies here too.

that's an eye-wateringly huge cost if it is that part needs replacing

I'm remembering when I started my earlier post about Ls430 or  Ls460 or Ls600 as a next step in ownership and the Inverter costs seemed ridiculous but most thought was that it would never need replacing

I hope yours doesn't, the price looks catastrophic

According to this data yes it is but make sure that the cooling system is working before replacing the inverter or you will cook another.

30051 below.
