95 RON is the lowest recommended in any country. The US and other countries don't use RON figures and therefore you could see a lower number but that is MON or AKI.

not strictly true, BRIC fuels (Brazil, Russia, India, China) are often well under 95 RON,  cars we produce for these regions generally have a different fuel system

yeah I meant for an F. The engine can take as low as 91 RON fuel but only when 95 or greater isn't available - you cannot continuously use 91 RON. The Russia Fs recommend 95 RON.

Actually he's quite right, the UK's minimum of 95 RON fuel is high compared to most countries, generally speaking in Europe you get three grades: Regular Unleaded fuel which is 91 RON, Premium Unleaded fuel which is 95 RON and Super Unleaded fuel which is 97 RON and higher.  This is the reason UK pumps only have premium and super unleaded, which often causes confuses as people refer to the lower grade as regular despite regular being an actual grade that is never sold in the UK.

The reason for the lack of the Regular 91 RON fuel in the UK is because our cars were historically run on rich leaded fuel like 4 star or 5 star, when the switch to unleaded came in there was no point introducing regular grade unleaded when it was incompatible with every car in the country, so only the Premium and Super standards were implemented in this country.

my comment on the lowest recommended in any country was in reference to a Lexus F vehicle.
