Day of boredom

As we're on to domestic appliances, we've had our Bosch washing machine for about 15 years and still going strong, our Miele vacuum for 6 so far.  The best of all is my Rexel stapler, I remember it in our house as a kid and now I have it and it's perfect.  My wife on the other hand gets through them at work on a regular basis because they just don't make them like that anymore.  Oh yes, our Creda tumble dryer is at least 20 years old.

We seem to keep our Mieles for decades until they die. Why dont we do thesame with Cars??

I've got an 18 year old £500 Lexus that passed its MOT yesterday with no prep. How about that?

her parents had a Miele washing machine still alive and working after 40 years too and that's why we bought Miele

I was reading some months ago that the Bosch products are made in Spain ............  not sure if it was all or just some though

Yes Miele was the best followed by AEG, both German companies. Not sure if AEG still exist as a manufacturer now probably gone the same way as Grundig where Curry’s use it as a brand name for crappy quality products. Those of a certain age will remember proper Grundig products built to last like reel to reel tape recorders unlike current “Grundig” products.

Bosch could well be made in Spain Malc. I think we've been lucky with the washing machine, maybe it was made before the accountants took over running the company in a similar vein to VW Audi, BMW and Mercedes, their quality is shockingly bad these days.

I say it's luck due to having two Bosch drills that both failed within days of purchase, one with a knackered Battery and its replacement where the gearbox took itself to lunch. I claimed on the guarantee and the shop sent me a Makita instead. Incidentally, my mate is a joiner he has a Makita power planer that he bought in 1977. He reckons he's fitted 5000 doors and countless archives using it and it's still on the original drive belt. Lexus quality!

My mum was going through dish washers at a rate of one every 18 months to 2 years, Indesit beko ect. 

I bought her a Bosch one, 14 years later its still going the best and has never had to be looked at. It's starting to rust a little at the bottom of the door now but fully functioning. 

At the time it was twice the price as the budget brands. Sure was cheaper in the long term.

My neighbour used to work for Indesit. Machines are designed to last 2 years apparently. We now buy more expensive machines that will last. Our dishwasher is a Miele, likewise our washing machine. Our last Miele washing machine failed after about 8 years. They reckon they will do 20,but this is based upon x number of washes per week. 

I looked into this and our machine had done 40 years worth 😂. 

Our current Miele washing machine has a 10 years manufacturers warranty and cost about £850.

You have to look out for manufacturers using other brand names on products. We have a Miele cooker hood which had several issues. I then learnt it was made for Miele not by them.

I can recommend Miele for Domestic Electrical. They are expensive but do have a long trouble free life. Some have free `10 year warranties too.

I always add a letter H between the s and i......just about covers the quality then which often leaves you inde****!

Washed!, hoovered, windows cleaned, de-tar, polished, leather feed, tyres jellied, and the hybrid fan motor got a clean too. 

The wife being a nurse on the front line I done the curtisy thing of hers before mine! 

Volvo may get the same tomorrow if I don't start boredom boozing tonight. 

If I don't have work by Monday I'm gona be out of things to pollish🙄

Miele are or were made at Gütersloh where I was stationed in the early 1970s. Herr Miele, the founder of the firm, was often a guest at official functions and gave generous allowances off the list price of his products to Servicemen in the area. Miele products are not cheap but they certainly are designed to last and it is very easy to get spare parts which can often be replaced easily.
