Wish I was joking £79.50 + VAT at 20% (actually £95.40, got it wrong)

My IS250 f sport takes 7.1litres so at Halfords price that would equate to £126,had my car serviced recently and the cost of engine out wasn't far off that to be honest

I assume the £120 plus VAT is labour? Ouch!

BUT... that £255 total figure isn't a million miles from what I used to pay years ago for small services on an A3 at my local Audi dealer. Things don't seem to have changed that much. And I know everyone goes on about shiny showrooms but I suppose you got a very nice courtesy car for as long as you needed too. And enough coffee to drown in.

I must admit the price of my needed Wilco semi-synthetic 15/40 ( is it ) for my Ls400 is now at a heady £18 or so for a 5 ltr pack that my indy uses for my annual service

Thought with the oil war going on between Saudi Arabia who has too much of the stuff and Russia that is in desperate need of cash revenues to support its armaments etc that the final retail shop price would have been more sensible

OR is it just the car dealer servicing guys taking the ***** do you think ?

Their servicing oils come out of huge great 100 ltr barrels at the back of the workshop at a trifle less than £16+ vat a ltr

I’d never come across 0w-20 before, as the UX takes, but £16/litre plus VAT is pretty pricy, isn’t it?

Our US cousins seem to get the first service gratis. Nice if you can get it.

Is 0W-20 correct for the UX? I would have thought it would be using 0W-16 being such a new vehicle.

I've found that the oil price seems to be the way the dealer inflates the price to match the fixed price Lexus service cost - almost because they don't want to show a real labour cost of around £150+VAT per hour.

Offer to supply your own oil next time and see how much they take off the price 😉

What is also annoying is that the oil cost is possibly the real cost they would charge you for Toyota 0W-20 oil, if you purchased from the spares department in 1l bottles, but they purchase oil in bulk for a fraction of the price.

If you look at the receipted the correct oil 0w16 is listed, but then they put 0w20 into the car. I would return, and ask for the correct grade to be installed. Using the correct grade 0w16 according to the manufacturers should more than save the cost of the oil on fuel saving in the OCI.
