I used to like all that stuff but ended up liking Siegfrieid's Tod, and Lohengrin's dad - Parsifal and Bruckners 8th. But I still like Frank Zappa, Devo, Who and Yes and  ......it goes on ...Motown, LED Zep, Stevie Winwood, even gerry rafferty!, david Bowie, Elton John's early stuff - like "where to now St Peter" etc etc..

Desert Island Disc = Wagner's Ring  Cycle  - Sorry about that, but it is so complex that it could keep you going for years.

Today's music ain't music!! It's all boring old cr@p

Being an old Northern Soulie so much of what I listen to is 'old'. Roughly 1964/3 through to mid to late seventies maximum. Some years ago I had also got the mindset trap that todays' music was all 'crap'. However, the more I looked around the less I believed this to be true. I have come to the conclusion that if i listen to music from any era I will find plenty that does not appeal. yet I will also find music that I could post here and reasonably claim to be as good as anything ever done within our lifetimes. You've just got to be prepared to look hard for it.

So, today, for breakfast, 'something old, something new, and something blue'.

Indeed, if you find yourself listening to music from your formative years and nothingelse then you should look up a little something called 'The Reminiscence Bump'. Fortunately, it is remarkedly open to sound psychological explanation. Summarised, your teenage years count heavily for who you are going to be and the experiences you have in that period shape you for life. The memories being emotionally formed through music are particularly long lasting. Pretty much all to do with brain development and when it happens There you go just saved you a search.

I thought it would be fun to post a quirky one. This chap (BIll Cosby) really blotted his reputation and doesn't really get played anymore. However, the music ,not the man, right ?

Now this one is actually a kind of 'cover'. It's actually Stevie Wonders Everythings Alright, BUT with the lyrics changed. To appreciate you really have to listen to the lyrics. Hope it appeals to your sense of fun.

This is a funny version. I liked the original too.

Richard Cheese does lots of gigs in LA and has a lot of spoof versions of hits.

So good  let's double shot it. Think I was just a little in love with Mavis. Nobody ever did this mix of gospel/soul better than her.
