New ES with digital mirrors

Hey Guys,

 

Not sure if many know but they are planning on adding digital side mirrors to the ES this year, similar looking system to the E-tron by what I can see online.

What do you all think of it?

A step too far for me. Cost bound to be much greater and therefore repair costs like-wise. Mirrored glass has worked well so far!

Apparently you can have them fitted to the new ES as an optional extra at a cost of £1600,so they are not  going to be cheap to replace if damaged 😭

I think I first saw these 50 years ago in the first series of Startrek.Capt Kirk used them when on the Bridge of the USS Enterprise.

Unfortunately waste of money or not,people seem to crave the latest technology and gadgets (whether it's in trying to keep up with the jones or otherwise)and seem attracted to them,so there will always be the desire to have them.In the general scheme of things do we really need them?the answer  generally tends to be no, while on the other hand do we really want them?the answer usually seems to be a yes

Yep, waste of money. These are going to turn out as SatNav has, a future selling point. Whatever brand of car you have, when you come to sell, SatNav is always a must have in the eyes of the next owner. Yet most inbuilt units are a faff to use and we don't bother to use it. We just stick our phone to the dash!

The car will take a hit on the price without, so you must have it.
