Hi All. I'm a newbie here so apologies if this is a common question.

I've recently bought a used Lexus IS250 2006 Auto. It's running great apart from an error that came up the other week, I get the VSC, stability symbol (car with skid marks icon)  and the check engine light comes on. Using an error scanner it said that it was my torque convertor, solenoid stuck on - error.

The car has done 140k miles and it has a full Lexus history but it's never had anything done to the gearbox from what I can see. Anyone else had this issue?

I've been reading up and many people say to do an oil change on the gearbox. Any help appreciated.

I'm tempted to get the gearbox serviced, but would like recommendations on any Auto transmission specialists near Kent (the Dartford or surrounding areas.)

Thanks

There's a company that sells transmission oil on eBay, and they also advertise a transmission fluid change service. They are in your neck of the woods too. Look up Lexus or Toyota transmission oil, you should easily find there details that way.

Funny enough - I have same issue with my old car which needs to be fixed before selling:

As said above, this should be fixed by replacing some gearbox oil/fluid - planning to do it later this week. If I remember right, there are no way to actually drain the fluid, so it is relatively log process of adding fluid and then waiting for it to drain.

220 does not suffer from this problem.

Do you mean you have an engine warning light showing?

I had this happen to me once.

IS220d - Was driving along, 70mph - Warning light came on and VSC light on and CHECK ENGINE on dash. Car went to limp mode, I pulled over and had a quick google, and was amazed to discover it could be the Filler cap causing the issue. Advice stated to remove filler cap, clean and reseat on thread so it fully closes. Had some wd40 in boot and a rag so cleaned cap and fuel opening restarted car and to my amazement it was OK!

Never had the error since and i am 8 months in to ownership.
