I imagine this subject has been done to death......sorry !

But, being a new owner of an IS 250 2006 petrol I really would like any and all advice on oil recommendations , both engine and gear box please,

Also which filters to use ??

Only owned the car about a month and it has a full service history/

On the last receipt , done at 90k it says it has had both oils changed , me not being of the trusting type intend to do both , plus filters.

So as much as it is a pain , whats the thinking on oils for these things ??

In my last car , a C180k Merc I used "triple qx" from euro parts .

Just pop your car reg in euro car parts and it should come up with the correct oils then ring lexus and clarify .

Is the car manual? If automatic - then oil change is not needed unless you have some sort of issue - gearbox error code or lazy gear changes.

For engine - I have always used Castrol Magnatec 5w30, preferably A5... however the best results were Mobil1 FS 0w40.. it was as clean as on the day I changed it and didn't burn any over 6k miles.

Plus 1 for the Castrol A5 Magnatec - Halfords had it on offer before Christmas at £15 for 4 litres, not sure if it is still available at that price.

Filters i find from Eurocarparts for around £8 (think the brand is mann or crossland) not had an issue. Air filter i have used is an oiled K&N and had that for years now, just clean it every year or so.You will need a special tool to remove the oil filter housing but the work is really easy to do and everything is accessible.

Cabin filter worth doing also.

Gearbox is not worth the hassle in doing unless you are getting error codes
