Hey all,

Went to Toyota/ Lexus parts department today for a quote on the driver's side replacement leather seat cover (only the backing where you rest your back) and was quoted about £1700 + fitting !! Is this about right ? The parts advisor said something about the seats being heated -which yes is got seat heaters !! Reason why is that there is slight scuff (no rips) from previous owner from where that part of the bolster meets the seatbelt - I did get that bit 'repaired' by a mobile leather seat repairer almost 2 years ago but can tell that bits been re-done and just slight unnoticeble crack which I don't want to get worse over course of time - hence why I asked for a quote for replacement leather seat backing. Now at £1700 + fitting would I be better off getting the complete interior done by a specialist ? As I know people that had their complete interiors done for about that price including door cards - reason I posted here and not the IS sub forum is to see if anyone had their interior re-trimmed and part of me want to go that route so I can choose a 2 tone colour just like the IS300h / NX Sport model which I like. Interestingly I remember when my dad got his driver side leather seat cover replaced - a 2011 Mercedes E250 just the part where you sit and that costs about £500 + fitting

I used d:class automotive to retrim my Mercedes in nappa leather, two tone and a custom design. It was a good 10yrs ago, cost was approx £2k. It included installing seat heaters to the rear seats..

I have posted several times on this topic . A have the soft cream leather seats in a IS300h . Within weeks of ownership we had several scuffs on the front seats, mainly where you get in and out .. Never had this problem before with leather seats in other cars , previous car was Jaguar XF with light gray leather seats . After a year , and after seeing other examples on this forum i complained  to Dealer And had front seat replaced under the warranty. Prior to that I had repair Done to passenger seat , by Dealer at my own cost .

Lexus have a major problem with their leather not seats , they are not durable not practical. Will be very wary next time .

I had cream coloured leather seats in my RC for three years, not a mark on them and hardly a crease. Even had the dog in the back many a time.

Lexus leather is so much softer than that in my Mercs but I'd say it ages much better. Mercedes do have a recognised issue with seat bolsters splitting.

Regular cleaning is key to maintaining a good leather surface.
