For you ES Takumi drivers out there how are you finding the durability of the finish of the wheels?

I’m finding mine are chipping very easily.  It’s almost like the lacquer coat finish is too thin.

Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Cheers

A Toyota failing going back to at least 2001. Do not be fobbed off Peter.

I Had all 4 wheels on my 2015 RX450h refurbished last year as a goodwill gesture

Just had a wheel replaced on my 2017 RX450h under warranty due to the start of corrosion near the wheel centre.

The clues are all there...

I’ve had Lexus and Toyota wheels replaced under warranty in the past but the shiny Takumi wheels appear to be very susceptible to chips.  Don’t think chips would be a warranty job though.  I’ll monitor things for a while and let my local centre know.

Peter,

It is not the chips you are complaining about, it is the quality of the product as evidenced by, amongst other things, the chips on the shiny bits.

Good luck, but for a £40k plus car you should be treated at least, satisfactorily.

I have noticed that our GSF wheels seem to chip very easily. I will ask the question when it goes in for a service but I highly doubt that Lexus will do anything about it.

Do not kid yourself FA. They are clearly not fit for purpose and would not stand up to scrutiny under Sales of Goods Acts. Be bold young man !
