SPARK PLUG FK20HBR8

Dear All,

I would like to have more technical details concerning the Spark Plugs of Lexus IS 300h. Lexus recommend to use Spark Plug code FK20HBR8 but these Items are not available through not usual distribution channels of Lexus (My Car dealer has proposed the OE Spark Plug at 60.00€ per pcs., unacceptable price). On Technical Specification of DENSO I seen that the Spark Plug IKBH20TT might be equivalent (i.e. same Heat range, size, etc.) and the IKBH20TT is available on usual Spare Parts Market: my intention is to replace the Original Equipment FK20HBR80 with IKBH20TT. Could somebody confirm that this is a right way? Has somebody experience or more information about the possibility to replace the OE Spark Plugs with IKBH20TT? I have used IKBH20TT plugs now for over 85,000 miles and have had no issues with them.
According to Denso they are a direct replacement to the FK20HBR80 plugs but the FK20HBR80 part number is a part number for Lexus branded plugs where the IKBH20TT is a denso branded item.

One more thing Jayw: I might buy one Spark Plug IKBH20TT from AUTOPARTI.it (the greater in Europe) at 13.00€ per pcs . What do you think? My doubt is that the price of 13.00€ per Item is a low price in comparison to the Original Equipment of Lexus FK20HBR8 (60.00 € per items).

Yes the Lexus service schedule states 6 Years ( not really realistic if you only do super low miles per year, My Lexus only had 22,000 miles at the 6 year point!) Or 60,000 miles. But reading on the US Lexus owners website the OEM plugs can easily go to 100,000 without any problems.

They are recommended by denso, they are a direct cross reference in their parts catalogue and I have run mine for 60,000 miles with no issues at all.
Yes they are a third of the price of OE plugs, I have put that down to Lexus markup on their parts

Good to know. Just past the 40k now so think il stick a set in next year and not need them again during my ownership

i have looked at bosch,ngk,denso and cannot see a cross reference for the IS300h

maybe they are dealer only or a special order

I had a friend who works for a denso outlet cross refer the Lexus part to the 20TT ones

Dear All,

my next step is to verify that Autodoc located in Berlin (the greater Supplier of Spare Parts in Europe) has been authorized from DENSO to sell the IKBH20TT.

 

I have written to DENSO my request: I hope to have a reply from DENSO very soon.

Dear All,

I checked through DENSO web site the Dealers that has been authorized from DENSO to sell the Spark Plugs in Europe.

Unfortunately DENSO doesn't reply to me.

I would like to inform you that AUTODOC has been authorized to sell the Spark Plug Denso.

Thus, if somebody would like to buy the IKBH20TT instead the OE FK20HBR8 (of Lexus IS 300h), the AUTODOC Europe might supply Originale Items from DENSO.
