Hi All,

So I've just had my car fixed up and sprayed after a battle with a wall, in which the wall won..  I also got them to refurb the alloys. I got the car back yesterday and I have curbed them this morning.  So you can imagine how pleased I am with that...

I have an is300h F-Sport.  Does anybody know the colour of the wheels and know of any touch up paint that closely matches the colour.

I've see this anthracite paint on amazon..  https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANTHRACITE-ALLOY-REPAIR-CURBING-SCRATCH/dp/B073PY8SWF/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=alloy+wheel+repair&qid=1576577713&sr=8-6

Cheers!

Hi Stuart

I have the same car and wheels as you and done exactly the same thing, all 4 wheels had just been refurbished under warranty as they were flaking and about a month later i curbed one 🤬 Had mine repaired by a local wheel specialist for £35 plus vat. He called it black chrome but it flakes off like plastic.

Hi Stuart. I can only echo Lee's comment above on your misfortune. I had my wheels refurbished in the summer, and have been almost paranoid about keeping away from curbs since. I know it is only a matter of time before I do the same thing.
As per color have you asked where you had the wheels done if they know of the matching touch up paint color.

The powder coating on wheels is actually plastic. It is sprayed on in powder form, and static electricity is used to hold it in place. The item coated is then put in an oven to melt the plastic into a solid coating.

Cheers all!

But, no, not yet, he's just gone on holiday.  The only thing keeping me sane is that the callipers still look good.  (He did those too along with the grey roof, (The grey is the old Granite Sky from my original IS200)).

Nooo! I thought all this was behind us....?

In my opinion they look rather boy racer. Those that I have seen fitted suffer just as much if not more since the stand out from the wheel further, and are made from a soft plastic that gets chewed up. At £65 a set I do not think they are good value.
I get my wheels tyre off refurbed for £120 a set of 4.

Sure, it’s not a thing it’s just a tyre choice

As well, you can go a bit wider on the tyre to help as from the pic, your tyres are on the narrow side (which may well be OEM spec tyre choice)

Those ribbed tyres do help, but they are primarily designed to stop the rim being dented when climbing a curb at right angles. Wider tyres can help considerably. my Prius came with 195/55/16 tyres "and strangely plastic wheel trims on alloy wheels all OEM" going to 205/55/16 cured the problem of curbing the trims. The larger size tyre was also 30% cheaper to buy, and improved the cars handling.

I think the only touch up close to the OEM finish is phantom grey.

However, I've got to the stage where I find it inexcusable to kerb wheels even mounting kerbs. Trick is to just not go anywhere near  a kerb parallel to it

After 9months of owning my F-Sport with the same wheels which were all unmarked, i kerbed one of the fronts yesterday whilst pulling out of a parking space 🙄

Id also be interested if anyone has a colour code that comes even close, just to take my eye off of the damage...
