radio on mute

i cannot cancel the mute on the radio have tried to turn the radio on and off and adjust the volume when i turn the volume it shows on the display Volume 16 and does not move. any ideals anyone

Try and press the MODE button (steering wheel mounted button on the left) until mute is cancelled... although I have to say that I thought that adjusting the volume either via the on/off button or the steering wheel controls overrode the mute function.

Er, how do you mute it? I always hit the power knob to shut it up.

Same: press and hold the MODE button. Quick press to un-mute. incidentally, this works in any Lexus as far as I know.
