So I bought an RX450H last year as a family wagon which has been superb, my other daily driver for nipping around the city was my wife's 15 year old Citroen C1 which is pretty unsuitable for our young daughter so I was looking for a suitable replacement which could also double as a motorway car Originally  I was intending to buy a polo but on Wednesday came back with this after buying it unseen from an enthusiast down south.

IS300 Sportscross Nav and it is superb.

I had one for a weekend some 20 years ago. It was a brilliant 6 cylinder job ,but the fuel gauge was faster than the clock !!

No doubt it's a comfy car, but will drink fuel for a city runner. Maybe in the future consider a yaris/auris or ct200h hybrid.

My first Lexus was a 53 plate IS 200 SE. Great car had it for 13 years. I averaged about 34 mpg increasing to 40-44 on a long motorway run. Enjoy. What petrol company did you buy to go with it?

A great choice I think. We don't need any more Polos.

I think you're ever so slightly missing the point

I have to say, the IS was probably  the last true Lexus. Later Lexus models seem to be a mishmash of Toyota and Lexus. Build quality  definitely reduced over the years in MHO. I have a CT now which struggles to get into the Lexus category.

To be clear this was classic man maths, I doubt it'll do over 2k per year anyway and I used to run a 4.2V8 Audi so my shares in Exxon will continue to rise.

Have a pushbike for all other stuff

Not sure how you have come to that statement regarding the IS ( I’m assuming 1st Gen) being the last true Lexus, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Whilst I agree that the build quality in the 1st Gen IS was very good, it was a Toyota back in Japan.
The IS, GS, RC, RX, LS, LC are far from a mishmash of Toyota and Lexus, although I think this comment is more relevant to  the CT UX NX and ES models.

@Garemberg Lovely car. I always liked the IS300.

Ok, point taken. I correct my statement  by saying my comment applies to 40% of cars manufactured by Lexus. Don't get me wrong, I know that build quality and service provided by Lexus is good hence I have owned one for 15 years.
