RCF Android Head

Recommended Posts

Folks

Does anyone have any experience of fitting an Android head to a RCF or similar.  I assume it kills the track pad but would happily lose that for an Android Auto interface.

If anyone has fitted one, do they have any pics of install and recommendations to fitters.

That does look brilliant, I notice its the updated version of the infotainment system, I have the first gen as I assume you do (RCF 2015) so it will be interesting how you get on.  Are you fitting personally or are you going to a Car Audio Specialist????

Have you got a link? I'm going to purchase one in a few weeks but I can only find IS specific models.

No further info? I need to know how much I need to save and how easy it is to upgrade, it looks too good to not do it!

I have my eye on this one:

I already have my local car audio installer on standby if/when I purchase it. I believe it's pretty much plug and play with only minor modification required.

No modification needed ... and is indeed plug n play fits perfect from what I’ve seen on USA sites and recieved confirmation it fits uk models ie wiring etc...I had to ask them as had issues with us spec equipment not having same wiring in other Lexus’s I had in the past

It would appear you have to remove the lower centre console (simple enough) and then remove the radio and the screen. After that it looks plug and play.

Would take a little bit of time, but perfectly doable.

Would be paranoid about damaging my new CF panel removing it 🙄

In terms if warranty and reliability they seem to offer a 1 year RTM. So if it went up the spout you would have to remove and ship back to China, they would repair and ship back. Surprised it's not a two year RTM, but I guess if it was genuinely plug and play this approach may not be too bad.

Keen to see the finished product in situ....

Easier said than done I guess, how many people (UK at least) will do this mod?

It would be nice to have a play with the unit at least, but I won't be ordering anything till next year.

I'm looking to purchase one as a Christmas present to myself 👍

Now that's a good idea 😂

Unfortunately my quicksilver, carbon fiber and ceramic coat are in reality a few years of presents to me, from me 😄

This head unit will (relatively speaking) future proof the car for a good few years.

I just wonder about warranty implications for the radio etc assuming media is covered under the extended warranty?

Just looked at the Beat Sonic....did you find out how it effected the dealer warranty, it looks like a great solution, and the OEM remains in place

That's the only thing holding me back. Will the Lexus warranty be avoid. May be I need to ask the question and get it writing if they say it ok.

Hi, Graham! How’s de Android system on your car? Working fine? Do you recommend it? I was wondering if anything has changed sound quality wise. Or the Mark&Levinson sound amplifier is still being used?

Sorry for the delayed reply..been on Mars last couple of months😶....

It works pretty well wirelessly too..regarding the dealer warranty I haven't disclosed it to them..if anything and the car goes in for nav issues I'll just unplug it from the back of the nav..
